Then spend the rest of the next two years ignoring team needs in a scramble to prevent our guys from getting offer sheeted. |

There are still cheaper options as well that can do a respectable job as a stop gap for a year or so. |

Capgeek says 7.85. 5-6 of that goes to Piet.
They might look to move out Steen, Oshie and/or some of their scrubs. Pretty easy to just tell Porter, Aucoin, Chorney or Cracknell to ride the bus.
I'd love to get Vladimir Sobotka. Guy's a feisty little pisher |

Good idea. Unfortunately, that is a straight out good hockey trade, and NHL GM's don't do any trade unless they're totally fleecing the other guy. - Oiler4Ever

You really think other teams will not offer sheet Nuge or J Schultz if their available and they think they're a ticket to the promised land?
Calgary offered on O'Reilly and one year later they still made a 4 player trade with Colorado. Are we always supposed to play nice or win Stanley. Not making enemies without cause but Stewart or AP would be significant long term pieces for us. |

This one will be interesting to watch. If we are not in the dance with St Louis some other GM will be. |

I think it's a lot easier to match Nuge, Yak and Schultz not to mention (MPS, Petry etc.) if we haven't added the 10+ million it would take to successfully offer sheet both Pietrangelo and Stewart.
Remember: O'Reilly is what, the 40th best center in the game and he was holding out on Colorado, and it was a fairly cheap two year offer sheet that arguably helped get him signed in Colorado.
Pietrangelo is easily a top 10 dman in the game, younger and more integral to St Louis' future than O'Reilly is to Colorado's. He's their franchise. If we offer sheeted both him and Stewart, all three of Nuge, Yak and Schultz would get sheeted no question. Frankly, I'd rather not spend the next two years battening down the hatches at the risk of breaking up our core permanently. Agree to disagree though. |

Just for clarification, if the trade option fails and we do the dual offer sheet with Stewart at 4+ and AP at 6+ we will only get one (or maybe none if they match both and drop other players). So let's say we got AP at 6.5 (Dreaming is fun!) we still have the cap space to protect Nuge and Yaks don't we? We either sign them to extentions next year or open up trade options. We don't let them reach RFA. I think they have added incentive to do the home town discount to be on the contending team with AP?? |

So apparently Evander Kane is worth more than Bobby Ryan and every other star player that has been traded over the past 3 years. Get your head out of your ass. |

St Louis is getting closer to cap with Derek Roy deal. Time for Oil to do dual offer sheets on Chris Stewart and AP? - redwolf
I would make an offer sheet that either they couldn't match or would kill them financially if they did. 7 years @ 8 mill per. Some might say that's stupid, but that's what it would take. With the cap going up next year and all of our current space it wouldn't be the worst thing. Pietrangelo would be the perfect partner for J.Shultz. |

I love Sobotka, but Steen'd be the greatest possible thing to happen to EDM. No way he gets let go in STL. Selke candidate |
