Colorado is no longer in our division.

Colorado doesn't have the greatest D at the moment.

Colorado has tons and tons of centres.

Colorado might did a playmaking winger for their centres.

Hemmer/Schultz to Colorado?

- Morris

Who could we use from their team?

Edit: maybe a centre like ROR or statsny but Hemmer and/or Schultz wouldn't get us that.

Stastny? Meh

Cant see em dealin oreilly or duchene and apparently mackinnon gonna start on the wing next year.
Long term minus stastny, 3 kickasz centers that fill those 1-3 roles beautifully. Bright future

How exactly is our arena situation in any way similar to Phoenix. Their arena is in Glendale, ours will be down town... Their fan base is 60+ years old and retired, ours is EVERY SINGLE EDMONTONIAN. I love how you are actually trying to predict a down turn in the Alberta economy. Like you actually have a god damn clue what oil prices will be. Do you even know what drives the correlation between the american and Canadian dollar? The oilers are profitable without making the playoffs. I'd like to take your Oiler fan card, please and thank you.

Good grief, go read the circle-suck-off going on in Esplen's blog comments if you want evidence for why the Nucks fans are the most clueless and hated in the league... bunch of nuckleheads congratulating themselves for Gillis' amazing moves... they're planning the cup parade already

I dont think he's particularly good either, but a 4th line role could suit him better and if he stops cherry picking and focuses on his own end, then he could be of use. At worst, he's an extra forward that you can walk away from next summer.

Why not save yourself time and walk away now?

Sorry I will be more exact in this.

Edmonton NEEDS a new area. this isn't up for debate. The downtown concept is well received with me. Down town Edmonton is one of the worst down towns I have ever been too. Only Hamilton is worst IMO. Anything to make this better is a great idea.

Getting bent over by a very finically intelligent tycoon, is my issue. How this is being built is garbage. Look at what's going on with Phoenix right now. It wasn't that long ago that they where riding a huge financial up turn, but they also took the one of the biggest crashes. Today the city owned arena is killing that city. There isn't enough money in the Budget for fuel for the fire department but they have to hand out extra money to the Coyotes because if they don't they losses will be even worst.

Well folks, it wasn't that long ago that Alberta teams where in a major down turn. both teams where looking at moving because of the poor dollar, low oil prices and lack of jobs. It was a similar situation to what is going on down south.

Now this is going to happen in Alberta again, because it is just the way things happens. Chances are it's going to happen before the arena is paid off too. Then what? Are you ready to fork out more money to keep the team? You know Katz isn't going to do it.

10-15 years from now I would be bold enough to predict that Edmonton Oilers fans are going to be ready to hang Katz because he will be bring up moving the team or wanting more money again.

Don't kid your selfs. this is a business for him. he tug on your heart strings and emotions and used dumb asses like David Staples to get his message across and it was a a ploy to get him self the best deal. He doesn't care about you the fan, or about winning or any of that. You don't get to be come a billionaire in the Pharmacy Business by caring about stuff like that. ANd for all you people that supported him, because YOU CAN"T LOSE THE TEAM, well you just got played.

So i love the idea of a new area, but you got screwed by KATZ.

- Oilnutz

So either Edmonton makes a deal with Katz to get his $120 mil on the table, or Edmonton tells him to take his money and his hockey team and (frank) off, cause we're gonna build it ourselves (which will take another 20 years to resolve), and we're gonna charge him out the ass in rent every year?

Yes, it's a sweetheart deal for Katz... but all deals where an individual puts ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS on the table requires a significant return on investment. I understand why people think Edmonton is getting screwed... but we'd be more screwed without his ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS and his commitment to keep the team here for 30+ years.

Ya dig the point I'm making here?

yeah Stastny is not exactly what we'd be looking for. He's really good though, just needs a change of scenery. Certainly a better option than Grabo if we could get him using assets we intend to move anyway.

That being said, he's not that good of a fit in that he's almost exclusively a centre, and Gagner maybe isn't a viable top 6 LW option.

Off the point;
Just wanted to say that duchene is so sick.
I actually think duchene = hall. Or maybe a slight edge to hall cause of some of the intangibles. Hall's maybe a more 'powerful' skater, but duchene speedier flat out.

The best player on the ice for at least 2 or 3 of the games we played against them last year

St Louis is getting closer to cap with Derek Roy deal. Time for Oil to do dual offer sheets on Chris Stewart and AP?

I'm all right with getting a "c" level option like Latendresse( or Penner for that matter) on a 2 year deal. I know Clarkson and Clowe are good players but if they are the best free agents with that style of play then it is surely a week crop.think about it, in 2 years we will surely be better based on the maturation of our team alone.i think by then we can attract some serious talent, and the leafs and Devils will be trying to find ways to dump those 2 guys. Not to mention the cap will be going up.

Agreed. Duchene is incredible. That whole 2009 draft is great. There's only one miss in the top 10, and a couple of solid later round guys.

I'll look forward to Duchene-Landy-MacKinnon vs Hall-Nuge-Yaks
