Bad at hockey and likes to cherry pick and exit the D zone early. Not quite what I'm looking for unless it comes down to necessity.

I honestly think they're leaning towards Joensuu on the wing and Ryan Smyth as our 4C as of now. Maybe not night in, night out, but something like that.
- Morris

Agreed, and we're hearing Acton at 4th line C (pushing Lander as well).

Stauffer believed yesterday that there is a big opportunity for Joensuu at 3RW

I say we sign Brunner and Armstrong. They'd be good additions.
- mbxiphos1527

Brunner could work, but I think MacT is looking for more of a checking and shutdown 3rd line so I don't know how he fits. A line of Paajarvi- Gordon- Brunner wouldn't be ALL bad assuming we could add some grit elsewhere.

As the Oilers stand today they will get pushed around and beat up too much. Guys like Nuge and Lander and Gags are in for a pounding in the corners and along the boards. Hope MacT gets some grit and toughness pretty quick or it could be another injury plagues season for us.

Is Smackintire around? we need someone like him.. but could be better if he had hockey skills to, that guy sure could knock some heads.

you're confused, it's the other way around.

yaks and hall like to carry the puck and use their speed and power to back up defenders while vanek and ebs (who can also carry the puck) are more true one shot snipes.

- hugefemale dog77

Either way. I was just thinking that Eberle and Vanek are good passers. It doesn't matter. I think Vanek is easier to get than Evander Kane. Buffalo is trying to trade Vanek to dump salary and add young players. Winnepeg is looking for a big payment on what is probably their best player.

I also like that they went out and got guys that had connections with the city and eachother. Gordon is down with Labarbera and he was stoked when he learned Gordon was aboard. Had really good things to say about compete level, grit and die hard attitude.

And of course, if you can't land a Schneider why not get Dubnyk's training partner of the last six years, Jason Labarbera.

If he had hockey skills, he'd already have been signed to a 7 year contract worth $5.25 mill/yr.

I still think everyone has underrated 33 year old 6'6 245 lb Center/Winger Nik Antropov. He is huge, he hits and he can put points up, consistently.

Seems like a longshot to actually get the right 2LW this off season...

Could be filled with tweeners until this time next year.

Yes, so is quick and Kopitar but why would we want to trade 3 of our best young dmen?

Fukk the Sens and Leafs killed it yesterday.

A #3 center with size that can take part time duties as a 2C if needed - I agree completely!

We would have had to give up something of value- actually multiple assets of value for 1 of Ryan- IMO it would be great but would just create another hole or holes on this team....

no one is immovable. but as far as petry goes, he's our only true two way guy and is signed to a decent price on one of the worst defences in the league.

why do we deal him? if we have a shot at an anchor superstar #1 and they wanted him in a package I guess.... but outside of that unlikely scenario, we're trying to add to our list of quality players on the backend. not subtract one of the few we have

Moving Quick or Kopitar, would not help us in anyway whatsoever. The need for the return they would bring is not there.

You package up a few of your guys and you can start to fill out your top six. Or get an NHL ready defenseman who will help you win now.

I think they'll be cursing that Clarkson contract in a few years.

as far as leaving money on the table from edm, Im sure he did in favour of term. and thank goodness mact didn't offer those kinds of years. that'll be an anchor in the last couple years
