It is. None of the draft picks should be in the lineup. Maaaaybe a late season call up ala Baert a cpl yrs ago, for 9 games, once vets are traded for picks.

I want to see what Knight has. He is old enough to see if he can play top-9 minutes or will be a lost cause.

Backlund needs to be given top line minutes to see if he can take the next step.
In an ideal world, Back becomes 1C and Monahan develops into a Marleau-type 2C and potential future Captain.

Agreed. As tempting as it may be and as desperate as the Flames are, they need to make sure he's ready. They can't afford to ruin the kid by throwing him in too soon.

Todd , I dont know how correct you want your blog to be even though its a minor detail but, Weiss did not get 5 mill a year or more. He got 4.9. Again, just nitpicking.

Does any one know the ruling on calder eligibility? Just curious if Baertschi is still able to win it next year . He has only played 25 games.

He might be...?
"To be eligible for the award, a player cannot have played any more than 25 games previously in any single season, nor have played in more than six games in each of two separate preceding seasons in any major professional league."

He played 20 games last year, then 5 games previously (under 6)
dunno what "any professional league" means cause I'm guessing it shouldn't include the AHL or European leagues
