I don't really know or care about the financial situation as long as my team is solvent enough to exist. They now, for the first time in a long time, field a strong group of 4 lines right from the start of the season. They're likely going to make the playoffs. With 4 deep forward lines and 3 deep D pairs and a legit top-5 goalie...I wouldn't want to play NJ in the playoffs this year. If we lead the league in shots against with Schneider in goal...I more than like our chances.

Those are direct quotes from Bettman
- Xnightwish

address the conflict of interest. Think Bettman is going to admit a team is in financial trouble? PS, only part of the Post Article Forbes is quoting is that they missed a payment, the rest of it is Forbes, including the 15 mil loan from the NHL.

Frankly, I don't even know what this back-and-forth is about. The Devils are going nowhere, even if there are (I saw the Post article last week, when it was in the business section of the paper) financial problems, I fully expect this to be rectified soon enough.

If you look back a few posts, I actually kinda-sorta defended the Clowe deal. It's all a matter of a mediocre UFA class, and these are the players that were lucky enough to be UFAs this offseason.

I don't think any of us loved the Clowe signing. We pretty much feel it was balanced out by the signing of Ryder at an extremely reasonable price. Luckily, we don't NEED Clowe to be an 80 point guy. I'll happily take 45-50 along with some strength on front of the net on the PP. Ryder also will help the PP big time. It should be much improved this year. And with Marty's contract and Tallinder's off the books next year...we will have some money to play with too.

Address this...what drums up more controversy? Exaggerating financial problems with a team or actually telling it like it is? Nypost has been proven time and time again as a tabloid...nothing more

You don't even know what your final 20 man roster is going to look like yet. The season is more than 2 months away. Relax. Enjoy 4th of July weekend.

right. Dodge my point and attack the Post again, ignoring the rest of the Forbes article. Done responding to you until you can actually answer the question.

Yup but that was 2 years ago where not 2 months ago like you guys. Were a new team with great young prospects. You guys got Clowe and Kovi

The Post has been consistently wrong about "insider information." They get a little tidbit and run with it by make a ton of speculation.

And as I said earlier, I like Clowe as a player, don't like the contract.

The mediocre defense led the league in shots against last year. It will look a lot better now that we have a goalie who can occasionally make a big stop.

A lot of the Rangers posters wanted Clowe back. If he's healthy, he's a very effective player.

And, I agree with you, the Post is far from a factually correct news source. It's the epitome of tabloid news. Like I said, even if there are financial problems, they will be rectified, Lamoriello wouldn't spend the money is they didn't have it.

go reread it. The only part of the post they quoted was the missed payment, the rest were their own sources. Try again.

Yep not like we don't have arguably the strongest goalie tandem in the league right now or anything...have fun when Nabokov flops in a full season.
