Gordon had more goals than Clowe

I was anti owner big time. Instead of being partners, they are so busy trying to screw over each other.

We can argue this all day, fact of the matter is NOT ONE UFA of any value came here, nobody. I will believe that Garth was working the phones, yet none, DO NOT, try to tell me how PMB will play on JT's wing. Please...NO Ryder, or any other, for that matter. And our D, Ference? or any other there. You could have doubled what the Flyers gave Emery. How is this team making it to the floor, Ek is observant enough to notice how much better the east got, we stayed in place or possibly got weaker. The routine grows old.
- Sec111

Marc-Bouchard is a very fast an talented player who has never played with any one close to JT caliber, I think you'll be happy with him

Not sure if I understand why his apparent propensity to go off topic during a discussion has anything to do whether or not he's worth the money.

That's beside the point

I had a list of players I was interested to see the Isles go after, and as each one of them signed I looked at the dollars and term and went "WTF?"

And exactly the same crap from the players every time. Oh we need to look out for our futures blah blah blah. Just play and make gazillions and be happy.

I'm not sure. A lot of bad ones but I think I have to go with Clowe. Signing that type of contract to a guy that has concussion issues
- NYI44

He should have had to prove himself with a one year deal. Disgrace of a contract.

completely agree, Gordon was unbelievable. How does that guy get more than 1.5 a year? Filppula's deal looks a whole lot like Leino's deal to me too.

On a side note, your signing of Brad Richardson was a good pick up. He's going to add speed, grit and a nasty forecheck to your bottom six, which is much needed. Very good value pick up. Weber could turn into a pleasant surprise as well and if not, he's very cheap depth on defense.

- Isles_since_6

I was campaigning for Richardson the other day. Nice versitile player. The filpulla deal for Tampa is another stupid deal. Buy out vinny to sign him.

if the players really wanted to look after each other they'd tell the top guys to stop taking 10% or more of the team's cap and leave more for the bottom depth guys. How some players make 9 mil and others make 550k is shameful.

he was always someone I noticed when LA was playing. Massive improvement in depth for the bottom six simply because he'll do the dirty work that the bottom six of the canucks wasn't willing to do the last couple years.

I hate Gillis but that was a good pick up. Only 28 as well.

Yes, I believe that too, but I think its more length than amount. I'm a Ranger fan, so I ask you, does Hamonic deserve the same length contract as McDonagh? Would you classify Hamonic as the same tier of shutdown Dman as McDonagh? I think 30 GM's would say no. The price is okay, but the amount of commitment is that of DiPietros. DP's actual pay is not bad, he's a discount if he wasn't injured all the time. THAT is the problem, the length of contract and the unknown for that duration, you only take that kind of gamble on players that are in the top of the league in their respective positions.
- xcheckmajor

You clearly don't know how good Travis is then. Travis is going to be a top 2 defense man for many of years in this league. He is already (22 YO) a boarder line top 2 with a physical shut down game, offensive upside and small injury history. The kid is as good as a gamble as they come. Garth's biggest accolade has got to be signing home grown talent for a discount.

McDonagh is good but hands down better? Not quite sure buddy...

It's a big over payment, but at least with Gordon you know what you're getting and there's no expectations for offensive production.

I have no idea what Clowe will be next season.

He can be 3rd or 4th line, so depending on which if any of the canucks prospects make the jump, he is useful. Used to have season tickets to the Owen Sound Attack. Richardson has surprising skill

You cannot give out anything close to that contract. They guy had zero production and was hurt. I do not care if Clowe was the last hockey player on the planet.

in both those comparisons I listed off capgeek for Tavares and Hamonic, I can't see anyone on JT's list I'd take over him, and there's only a couple I would consider interesting on Hamonics. Whole lot of crap on both lists making equal money. Snow's done well to keep his cap hits and salaries down while holding onto the players they want to keep.

The JT and Hamonic deals are a steal!!!

Glen Healey has no clue what he is talking about... to be honest the whole HNIC crew is not that great anymore.

I don't watch it anymore... the only part I do enjoy is the Hotstove.

Honestly anybody who supported the owners in the lockout should have their self checked into a mental hospital, because its obvious they have no brains.

Worst contract of yesterday

Clowe?
Clarkson
Bozak
Weiss
Gordon(hands down my choice)

- Bieksa#3

Individual contracts weren't really the main issue of the lockout, it was the overall cap and revenue split. If GM's wanna be dumb and use up 1/2 their cap on 1 player, then their team will stink. But the lockout was more about making sure the teams can't overspend on the entire roster.

I liked the signing for the Islanders. Locked up a guy that they can build their blueline around for a decent cap hit.

Better than giving a guy who averages about 40 points a year a 7 year $35 million contract.

THN has probably the biggest douchebag trolls on the planet when it comes to hockey. If you're on twitter, look up @thnkencampbell. This schmuck tweeted something along the lines of "the islanders just replaced the rick dipietro contract with travis hamonic's". Then proceeds to block anyone who disagrees with that assclown. If the trolls at thn weren't to busy taking it balls deep from crosby and their research, they'd see it's a great signing unlike clowe and clarkson getting almost $6million per year for the next 6-7 years. Or Horton signing a big contract and won't be able to play until December or January because of shoulder surgery from what I heard. But what do I know.

They had the Clowe contract on a silver platter to rip and they pick Hamonic's contract. That tells you everything.
