I've been real disappointed in Goc, with the exception of his first few months after his signing here.
- PanthersGoal

He's the best penalty killer we have... and was on pace for a 16 or-so goal season. He scored 11 goals in only 57 games the season before. If he's healthy and plays decent minutes, the guy could score 20 goals. He's great in the face-off circle as well.

and don't be surprised when Huberdeau is due for a contract extension and the Panthers are too cheap to pay it. they will then pitch yet another rebuild phase and blah blah blah bull shyt.
- floridapanthers4ev

Nah.. I think after two seasons of a full building thanks to our new division rivals we won't be having this problem.

Not sure what you were expecting from him. He is a prefect 3rd line center his only problem has been injuries like everyone else who plays for the panthers...

He really is a textbook 3rd line center. Its when we are forced to play him at 2nd line and on the PP that his weaknesses are glaring. HE is one heck of a 3rd line center though.
Rallo is a good signing for San Antonio. It will give the Rampage more scoring.

Conditioning this last season was horrible. Can't blame the staff much.. the players need to keep themselves in shape. During a lockout, players and the training staff can;t use team facilities to work out or condition. I hope that isn't a problem this season. Oh wait.... Versteeg. Lol. I know, it's from a separate season yadda yadda yadda.

Goc has done a very good job IMO. But you can't really be surprised when he try's to play out of his role. A lot of teams would love to have Goc great PKer. One of the best 3rd centers in league and he is cheap.

But you got to wonder what the hell was half the team doing during the lockout?!? We were easily the most out of shape team in the league.

When I saw opening night, I thought maybe we were the ones who may have been well conditioned during the lockout. Took about four games for the truth to set in. As far as Goc, I guess he is a good third liner, maybe I was expecting too much since when he debuted he came out like house-on-fire...

3rd line center? we have a team full of 3rd line centers. Don't kid yourselves, Matthias is a 3rd line center at best, he had a few good months in his entire career, the guy will come down to earth. Long long season we have coming up, too bad it's a full 82 game season yuck!

He can't walk. He's an RFA. Ball is in our court and there's only so much he can be paid anyways.

Matthias needs to be second line RW. That is the position he excels at.

He shoots lefty, play on the weakside for the one-timer I suppose? I do agree that he is better on the wing though.

If anyone went to the scrimmage today- wow. Talk about a good time. Some guys that stuck out to me, by position:

Defense

The guys you'd expect to stand out did just that. Matheson and Petrovic looked great. McCoshen, Downing, and Brown looked great. All three of them were drafted this year, and I will get to Brown in a minute. Two guys I did not expect to enjoy; Racine and Gallacher. Racine is just a TANK. He skates like he's been a pro for 10 years. This kid will be a great shut down defenseman in the NHL. Gallacher is smaller than most, but he makes up for that with his vision. He sees the ice so well, and makes no mistakes with the puck.

TOP PERFORMER: Josh Brown. First off, the guy is a building. He is MASSIVE. There must be 90 feet between him and Bjugstad. He skates so well, and is very smart in the defensive zone. Needless to say, a Brown/Racine 5-6 pairing one day... just wow.

DISAPPOINTMENT: None. Even the long shot guys played really well. Weegar, Boyd, McFadden, Nielsen (loved his play).. all amazing. We are stacked on the blue line.

Offense

Again, we had the normal standouts... Trocheck and Howden were spectacular. A few guys who we should expect to see in the pros soon would be Francis Beauvillier and Logan Shaw. Shaw is a huge RW, something we need for sure. Beauvillier is listed as a center, but he was playing wing today and looked AMAZING. Bjugstad looked great, but was a bit too lazy for me during the scrimmage. The talk amongst people there was that he didn't want to floor anyone into the boards too hard.

TOP PERFORMER: This one most people would not expect this one but it was Rocco Grimaldi. Holy crap, he quickly earned the nickname "The Flea" today. He was just jumping everywhere. He would literally come up behind someone bigger than him and just take the puck. He scored an amazing goal after reading the play well and intercepting a pass, and earned an assist.

DISAPPOINTMENT: I have one: John McFarland. He just didn't show up. Even during the shootout he didn't seem interested and just lost the puck. I expected much more from him.

Goaltenders

Tallon is really high on Houser, and I can see why. Looks like he's going to be going to San Antonio, and he's earned the right to be there. Despite his condition, he moves great from side-to-side, and challenges the shooter really well.

TOP PERFORMER: Honestly, I liked Sergei Gayduchenko. I think he outperformed the other three today in the scrimmage. Cowley and Brittain both looked great, but are young. I think Gayduchenko and Houser start in SA, and if there is an injury to a goaltender, one of them could be called up.

Interesting little note. I'm sitting there watching the scrimmage, and Olli Jokinen walks in. No joke. I got to talking with him and said that Barkov is going to be an AMAZING NHL player. He played against him in Finland and is great. Barkov did not skate in the scrimmage, but he was out before it (with Drew Shore) and wow. He can fly on the ice. Can't wait to see him.

Also, Markstrom will be signed shortly.

no surprise in Grimaldi at all. McFarland is a bum and should have been traded a year ago.

I just hope these guys are ready to step in and prepare to lose 4 out of every 5 games next season.

Grimaldi shocked me. I did not expect him to dominate the way he did today. He is going back to college for his Sophomore season.

McFarland really upset me. Oh well, can't win em all. By the way, it sounds like Versteeg is on track to begin the season on time.

Thought steeger was going to be ready in November. Don't rush the guy, it's not like it's going to matter much.

I'm not rushing anything haha.. Tallon today said everyone is rehabbing well and on track to start on time. I think you under estimate this team if healthy. He also said that Mueller's agent and the team talk daily. He may be resigned as well. Long way to go.

Gotta sign Barkov and Markstrom.
