Yea, I'm a little confused why they'd send their best winger prospect, and 2nd best winger prospect in Noesen plus a 1st round pick for Ryan.
- drummer829

Because they have winger prospects like we have defense prospects.

They are frustrated with Alfie leaving I guess...

That's another piece to Gunner's article I'd like to highlight:

According to Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Scuderi has not missed a game since December 7, 2009. He has played in 264 consecutive regular season games. You could say that Scuderi has been a durable player.

Amazing!

I just used this to get a perspective of what the sens gave up for ryan
- drummer829

Bobby Ryan is the sexy choice most teams would want on the wing BUT they gave up too much. Grabovski is still out there and is a good player that could be had for free. He'd fit in well in OTT.

But they sent their top 2 rated prospects... That's like us sending Despres, maatta, and a 1st for edler or some other top 2 defenseman that isn't the highest of skill, but pretty good.

Anaheim got the kind of return we were hoping for Letang.

Feel like its a hastey move from a GM who lost their captain.

The Senators were pretty motivated to do something after losing Alfredsson.

Bobby Ryan to the Sens for Jakub Silferberg, Stefan Noeson and a 1st round pick.

WOWZERS!

Great deal for Ottawa. Anaheim has been trying to deal Ryan for years it seems. Philly fans not happy about this.

As for Scuds, glad to have him back. You have to think we have one or two Dmen gone - Niskanen, Engelland, Bourtozzo. This was a smart sign by Shero.

It will be weird seeing Alfredsson in Detroit. Again, they just collect Swedes.

@CraigCustance: Told Penguins in the mix for Dan Cleary today as well.

He wouldn't be a bad acquisition. We need a third line guy - assuming Cooke is gone.

Exactly what they need. A 2nd line C. He'd be smart to sign there.

You told me I was crazy when I threw his name as a potential target, remember? the market is so f'd up right now that we don't know what's going to happen.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Cooke and Cleary signed and Niskanen and Glass gone with the wind.

Bottom 6:

Cooke-Sutter-Cleary

Just curious, in this scenario what kind of cap hit are you picturing for Cooke and Cleary?

Unrelated, but does Cleary kill penalties?

Yes, I did. I didn't think he'd leave Detroit. Personally, if all being the same, I'd rather have Cooke back. He brings more. I bet he would cost less too.

The Clowe signing is ridiculous. I think Lou is getting senile.

Khudobin for only 800k. Not bad for a back up who did very well. We will see if his numbers were only from Boston's D

Considering Carolina doesn't have any defense to speak of, we will find out quickly when Ward has his issues.
