But for uncommon guys Darcy is on the phone trading Vanek and Miller for gold.

I'm actually really happy with today for 3 reasons.

1) We didn't sign overpriced and aging ufa players in one of the worst free agent classed while we are trying to rebuild .

2) We have a ton of cap room for next year (even with Vanek and Miller, more if they go) when there are good free agents and we have a better idea of our team identity.

3) I don't have to listen to wgr talk about why we need Bobby Ryan.

Not that I wanted either Cooke or Iginla on the Sabres ,Iggy was a huge non factor for the most part in his time in Pitt.

They neglected their defense. Darcy started with defense.

I can understand if you don't like Darcy, but its silly if the only reason you don't like him is because he's been there 16 years.

Here's the argument for Darcy's 16 years as a positive:

Look on the bright-side, he can get more in trades example Hodgson, Regehr(both to and from Buffalo),Leopold, Pomminville, Sekera, Roy, Gaustad.

When he says he wants a 1st for Gaustad or 2 2nds for Regehr, he means it. Other teams know he's not bluffing because he can just hold onto the deal, he won't force it for less because he's got job security. Other gms can't hold out thinking they can give darcy less because they know if they don't get the trade done they loose their job, if he doesn't, he's fine.

I just really want to thank Darcy for another outstanding attempt at making the Sabres a top caliber team. By the time your "young guns" are at their top of their games, they will be too old to get us a cup and we will be back to trading them away and looking for the next young team. Do you see where I am going with this? It's the same thing year after year.. always looking for that young star that will be perfect in 2 years and when 2 years comes.. we still suck. (middle finger) Darcy.
