How often do people mock TO for getting Kessel from Boston and now some want us to do the same for Ryan. How ironic.
- BigStew

If Boston knew how to develop talent I'd say they won the trade, but dumping Seguin and borderline abandoning Hamilton means Toronto torched them.

Sens gave up ~grigo and girg and a first, and on buffalo that first is looking to be sub five.

I wouldn't give that up for bobby Ryan, especially when we aren't in a position to be seriously competitive for at least 3 years.

- Putzfrau

You obviously didn't see my other post... I wouldn't trade that for Ryan.

I've been away for about an hour. I know the Sabres haven't done anything, but any good rumors? Any news on Grabovski Morrow and Iginla? What about Brunner?

Lets say we get the 1st overall and Edm wants it really bad so they can get Ekblad. Would you except there 1st "around 8-13", Hopkins, and Gagner "or some other roster player thats younger"?
- Smittyx36

Yes. That could work to our advantage . our 1sts from the past 2 years will be getting ready to make the jump. Next years first could be 3 years down the road.

You can be right, it will make you feel better, i'm done.
- SABRES 89

this isnt meant to be an argument, so dont treat it as such.

2 years ago the Sabres treated every off-season like a "band aid" season. Grab a few pieces to try and alleviate the situation for a year or 2.

Now they know they have to do a "frankenstein" job. Kill the monster and bring it back to life. And thats whats different about this off-season. Theyre committed to killing it and building it back up. Just like the Pens and Hawks, and to an extent, the Islanders have done.

I understand your frustration, but its to an extreme that sometimes doesnt let people even grasp the other end of the argument

They've abandoned Hamilton? Since when? He's 20 and played half the year in the OHL.

Something the Sabres will be doing plenty early enough for the next few years thanks to our shoemaker GM Darcy Regier.

Totally agree. I was going to be more upset if they did do something today. Aside from Darcy probably losing value with miller, I want to see what all the kids can do this season.

I'd probably do the same. Unless a forward jumps out as the favorite for #1. I really don't see them keeping

Our division got 100% harder to play against with adding teams to it and the players teams have signed, you really think all these kids will do anything?

no one probably wanted to sign here. Maybe TP put a limit on what he was allowing to spend and it wasn't enough to get anyone to sign..... who knows.

right now, it's the sabres, panthers and flames in a three team battle to see who will suck the most

vanek is not going to the red wings, like I thought

what about to the yotes?

- navinrjohnson

Why didn't he go to the yotes today? If he goes nowhere, I hope they find a way to keep him from getting beat up. When he starts the season he's the best forward in the league for around 20 games.

At the end of the season Florida lost game after game. Now Dineen is not a crappy coach. They did the tanking the right way.

We suck. We grab nylander. We suck again. We grab mcdavid. If that's possible it's a better chance than what we got right now.

Grigs will need new contract. Same with others but if we can keep the suffering for two years we have a top line winger and center not to mention people like zemgus and risto should be on the team.

If you ever get mad think three years ahead...it may be pretty nice

I do. But I also don't take thi stuff seriously anymore. 30 plus years of rooting for buffalo teams and dealing with four kids have shifted my intensity. I can't get upset over stuff I can't control.
I'm not saying we got better, agree with capt. Tired of he band aids over the years.
