You're making a baseless assumption. Blues/Sabres talked about Miller. But for all we know, your GM called ours asking what he could get for Miller. Miller is an improvement over our current goalies... but not enough to warrant giving up major assets.

Worst case, our current goalies don't get the job done next playoffs... Blues are still happy to keep their "over-rated" by fans player and then get Miller for free in the offseason. Nearly our entire team is under 30, our window is just opening. Buffalo needs to trade Miller a heck of a lot more than we need to trade for him.

Either we can get him for free next summer meaning he isn't worth trading too many assets for; or we won't be able to meet his expectations for his next contract and would only be trading for one season of him, meaning he isn't worth trading too many assets for. Same result either way.

IMO, Oshie straight up would be too much for Miller.

I'd throw in a 2nd w/ Miller to get Oshie

13.1mil in cap space actually. Capgeek has multiple players they list as on roster that are on two-way deals and not expected to be in the NHL unless there are injuries (Chorney, Jaskin). More than enough to sign Petro and Stewart.

Buffalo at this point can't offer sheet anyone... We have a good shot at a top 5 pick the next two years. We would be crazy to risk that.

I'd rather Darcy not be such a sphincter and allow players the ilk of Miller or Vanek walk for nothing or continue to allow their market value plummet.
