So this is all it took to get Ryan?
I think I may be through giving Darcy the benefit of the doubt.
What the Sens sent back to the Ducks for Bobby Ryan in my opinion is laughable.
Thanks again Darcy.

the Senators added Bobby Ryan from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Jakob Silfverberg, prospect Stefan Noesen and a first round pick.

Ruhwedel has a one way contract I believe. If it's a tie between the two, Ruhwedel gets it. McNabb will have to greatly outperform him.

Think he meant 34 when you sign, 35 when they start playing.
- nfph

I (frank)ed up both would be 34 when we start in oct lol

I'm not a fan of signing two guys for 7.5 m a year when they hit 34

3.) Barbashev, LW
4.) Clarke, LW
5.) Ekblad, D

I don't think we have to worry about anything past 5

Ekblad will be higher than that, but your point remains.

1-way just means his salary is the same in the AHL. The only reason we didn't start him there last year was because we didn't want to use our last call up.

Teams that were going to find a goalie in the FA market weren't interested in Miller because they had the opportunity to work out their own contract and give up no assets. Why would any team trade for a goalie when they had that opportunity?

Now that the FA's are mostly taken, the teams still in need of goalies will come out of the woodwork, IMO. These teams haven't known anything since this has all been determined this afternoon. The teams that missed out on signing these goalies (Nabakov, Emery, Khudobin, none of whom hold a candle to Miller talent wise anyway) are just now able to choose which assets they can afford to give up to obtain a true #1 goalie in Miller.

It's unfortunate that Darcy couldn't get something done before the FA period started, giving him more options to pick someone up, but he didn't really have the upper hand for a deal like that. Someone will pay what Miller's worth, you don't pass up on an opportunity to get a goalie like that into your system.

I don't think anyone needs to panic about these signings. Philly for example... Mason and Emery? One of those guys could be buried in the minors by the second week of the season with that snapcase Holmgren and the insane Philly media. St. Louis, another shaky situation. The Caps are hardly solved in net, and despite a poopty season last year, their contention window is still open a crack.

- BuffaJoe

I agree
NYI will regret going w Nabakov again
Having him in net makes them a fringe playoff team
And Emery looked good last year,
But that was w Seabrook & Keith playing 25+ min a night
If Philly thinks a backup goalie is gonna lead them to the Cup then they're nuts
There's a reason Emery hasn't really been a darter since his days in Ottawa

I just wanna see a Miller trade happen sooner than later so we don't end up finishing w the 8th pick again
This draft we got a really good player
Next year, we need to pick top3

He also had something in his contract that he couldn't be sent down to Rochester. I'm not sure if that rolls to this year, though.

Not terrible at all.

If Clarkson can consistantly score you 30gs (as he did in 11-12, and was on pace to do in 12-13) he's a value at just over $5 mill. (Vanek and Pommer hardley score 30gs @ $6-7 mill).

Remember that this guy can hit and fight for you too (consistantly netting well over 100 pim a season!)!!

Clarckson has good size and jam, and he's still under 30yrs old. He should be a productive player for the length of this deal.

- SuperCat

The fact that 3rd line players, with fringe 2nd line potential, are being paid $5M per is very scary. Hell, paying them north of $3M per is a lot to me.

then why keep vanek and miller

I can see it now, they both get season ending injuries week one

then the team is screwed when they walk for nothing

True,
But if we trade Vanek & Miller I think we will be pretty bad
Won't be able to score consistently
And even if Enroth does well, he'll also likely be inconsistent with it being his first year as a starter

If TJ Oshie and a 2nd is to high for Miller I wouldn't be rushing out and trading him either but that's just me. Not worried about Vanek, there will be lots of interest in him on a continued basis.
