The Flames have inked Karri Ramo to a two year, $2.75MAAV in addition to Corban Knight and Greg Nemisz.

Feaster continues to be a joke, how does he still have a job?

They should have just claimed Russell from Waivers.

Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Right, I'm the idiot for thinking giving up an asset for someone that was completely free is a dumb move.

There is more to the business than just grabbing people when available.

Maybe he wasn't on the radar at the time. But maybe now something has changed. Like an rfa won't accept his qualifying offer. Who knows.

It's not black and white.

How long have you been a hockey fan? These sorts of deals happen all the time. Karlsson at the start of the year is a great example. He was on waivers and a few days later chi gives us a 5th for him. There's something to be said for a gentleman's agreement. I'm sure you wouldn't understand.. Swine.

And if you remember correctly, they qualified players...2 days ago.

So they wouldn't have known then.

He's been fighting injury for the last year and a half. Wouldn't be fair to give up on him yet. I thought he was alright a few years ago in a few games called up but it's pretty clear he's playing with some form of long-term injury.

Loving the name calling from flames fans!

Been one for a long time, seen a lot of waiver pick ups and a whole lot less of these mess ups.

He was still on waivers. They could have claimed him and signed him for the same amount without giving up a 5th. Either way he was available.

The point I am trying to make is, when St.Louis put Russell on waivers, the Flames may not have needed him. For whatever reason, maybe a qualified player isn't going to accept their offer. So they wouldn't have known when Russell was on waivers, hence they didn't pick him up. Their a plenty of reasons why the Flames didn't pick him up. There is a lot we don't know, so it's a wash as far as I'm concerned.

So, they magically needed him today enough to trade away a draft pick, but yesterday before he cleared waivers they didn't need him enough to pick him up for nothing?

I think that demonstrates some incompetence on the GM's part in terms of planning

Everything is based on need, if you think you've got something better why would you. and the 5th round pick isn't a big deal. He was a 3rd round pick and we got him for a 5th, that's a win right? This isn't that big of a deal, don't make it one.

But what am I saying, you obviously are a hockey God and we know nothing, take your knowledge over to the Oilers board where you can frolic with your own kind.

Point still stands - could have had him for nothing, I'd hardly call this trade a win. 5th round picks do pan out from time to time. Kipper was a 5th round pick of SJS, and he turned out to be a big deal. You should hold your GM to a higher standard, he keeps making blunders.

I'm not an oilers fan or a hockey God, but its good to know that Flames fans aren't welcoming of any criticism and all three that I've engaged with so far have resorted to name calling.

I am welcoming to criticism, when warranted. The Flames are going to be taking criticism for a while coming up, and we all know it.

Of course 5th round picks work out sometimes, but so do 3rd rounders. One who is already playing in the NHL.
You keep saying "could have had him for nothing", and I get that, it's not always as easy as you say it is.

And I hardly call "hockey God" name calling.
But if I hurt your feelings i'll try to tone it down in the future.

Let it go. Flame fan or not, you aren't discussing, you are making trolling statements with something that really isn't that significant. I will put a side bet with you that this 5th rounder doesn't amount to anything & isn't going to be the player that turns into a franchise player. Steinberg on the Fan960 & other media members have brought up this question & is going to question Feaster later when they get an interview with Feaster. Instead being so presumptuous & pile on Feaster that seems to be getting old & boring, lets find out why this was done & then make reasonable criticism if warranted.

I'll take this side bet, I like a long shot

Point taken. I'll be back later to make reasonable criticism. I just dont think Flames fans should be rejoicing.
