He's no CoHo......
- chompsey

That's right, cause coho is the best player we ever had and we never should of traded him for a plug...

Scored 20 once in Florida with David booth as his line mate lol

Please don't tell me this guy is going to play in the top 9. If they have such good chemistry then put them both on the 4th line and give the young guys a chance.

Sedin/Sedin/Burrows
Jensen/Kesler/Kassian
Higgins/Schroeder or Gaunce/ Hansen
Booth/Richardson/Santorelli

That is actually a quite realistic assessment at this point. Assuming also that Booth will move up and down in the line up. I don't like having Booths largish cap hit playing on the fourth line you don't pay that much for a fourth liner. If thats where he is gonna play we trade him or send him to the waiver wire. This does seem like a pretty balanced line up.

Canucks still only have about 35 players under contract, there will plenty more signings like this.

I have my doubt that Jensen can have a bigger impact than Booth at this point. It would be nice, but...

Some very good points. I (and every Canucks fan except for Fosco ) hope that's what happens. Of course the jury is still out in terms of 'what' Kassian will end up being. However, like you said, even if Kassian doesn't end up as good as Coho, but excites the fans with consistently tough/gritty play, people are going to be satisfied (or at least stop bringing up the Coho trade ad naseum)

Disclaimer/Edit: for all you non-regulars, that is NOT Fosco's real opinion WHATSOEVER

Doubt it, I think it looks a little like this:

CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER
My Custom Lineup
FORWARDS
Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m)
David Booth ($4.250m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)
Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Jordan Schroeder ($1.050m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m)
Tom Sestito ($0.750m) / Brad Richardson ($1.150m) / Dale Weise ($0.677m)
Darren Archibald ($0.660m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)
Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Frank Corrado ($0.599m)
Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Chris Tanev ($1.250m)
Yannick Weber ($0.650m) / Yann Sauve ($0.709m)
GOALTENDERS
Roberto Luongo ($5.333m)
Eddie Lack ($0.750m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,948,028; BONUSES: $0
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,351,972

Not necessarily Sauve / Archibald as the 13th forward and 8th defence man, but if Schroeder isn't the guy, there's a bit more than $2mil for a 3rd line C.

I think he can... Jensen's 10x's more cerebral than Booth, so if he's conditioned to NHL standards & is put in offensive situations, I think he'll do really well.

not familiar with the type of player Mike Santorelli is, anyone fill me in?
- vancity787

Pretty sure Santorelli is actually Scooby's cousin, or a friend of his cousins...or something like that...

Well, that would be a huge bonus, and if Booth could be moved it would open up an additional $3+m in cap space.

I think we all like Jensen, but I dont see him overtaking Booth for at least half a season....

Further to that, if we are out of the race at the trade deadline, I hope MG starts purging contracts like Booth/Higgins for picks....let the kids play!

I will take the risk for saying it but Jensen will be in the line up.

Jensen, Kes, Burrows. Kes and Burrows can cover any defensive lapses as well as teach him how to be more defensive minded, just hope he can keep up speed wise.

He'd have to have a huge camp. The kid's got skills but he looked pretty far from ready during his cup of coffee last season.

Helloooooooooooo ev reee budddy.
Kind of new to this place...been' reading your comments for a long time now, and I finally got off my ass and posted.
I am trying to do a cap geek roster and pencil in Schroder and Tanev, what are your opinions of reasonable compensation for these guys? I was thinking 1.75 for Tanev and 1.25 for Schroder, am I out to lunch?

I'd love it if MG took a flier on Peter Mueller....a bit of a reclamation project but killer skill and likely to come cheap......

You really can't judge his play in the NHL or AHL last season.

He was horribly mis-used by both coaches.

But I agree he'll need a big camp and look dangerous offensively to make the Canucks, as I don't see him making the team as anything but a top6 player.

I'd say you're at least $250k too high on each, but I could see Tanev getting overpayed.

Completely agree. I'm not sure what his physical situation is these days but he's an undeniable talent that could put up 50+ points consistently if healthy. At this point I think he could be had for cheap.

I do like the Santorelli signing as a replacement for Ebbett. He was 60% on FO's last season and is apparently over 50% on penalty shots, which sadly is a skill of some use in the modern NHL.

Agree, but that's all I've got to go on since last season was the first time I've seen him compete. He should go to a Gary Roberts summer workout. Did wonders for CoHo.
