No point in drawing a line in the sand and saying some people were on one side and some were on the other—it's not as cut and dried as that.
I was a Gillis fan, and I HATED that trade. But I also was a fan of Kassian even before the trade was made.
So am I one of these "non sheep" or a "Gillis knows best"?
Or can we just get rid of the categories and labels all together, ffs...? - Fosco
Some of us watch hockey for fun and some of use prefer to tell other people that our team sucks because everybody is wrong and they were right. It's probably not worth getting upset about either way. |

I actually find it funny when teams are buying out players like Briere and Lecavalier and then Clarkson gets a 7 year deal. Luongo's deal looks like a bargain.
Also, to anybody fretting about Lu's attitude, don't worry. He's not no takers, he's got no leverage. He'll be back and he'll be fine. If he's shown anything last year, it's that he's realistic. - micah555
It would be hilarious if he intends on coming, but is making Gillis and Co sweat it just for kicks. |

Yesterday on the descending list of cap rolls in the league the Canucks were near the top. Today not so much. - Gullzy
Boston has 5.6 mil left, how much of that is Rask going to get. When it's all said and done the Canucks will be in the middle, but everyone will be spending to the cap this year with it going down. It could really effect the trade deadline if everyone is tight to the cap. |

That's exactly what I was advocating in this and a few of my previous posts. |

Yes, but we have more players that need signing than most of them. The Pens though, that's hilarious. They'd better hope like hell the cap rises significantly next season. |

It would be really interesting if he makes the final table at the WSOP. |

I think we may see a few teams with only 21-22 players on the roster at any time this year, which is another way to circumvent cap. ( you actually only need 20 ) It won't give many options for lineup changes without people being called up and sent down which means young guys will be shuffled around like never before. |

Landeskog and MacKinnon as well. - A_SteamingLombardi
The offense is going to be scary going forward. Three potential superstars. If they can upgrade their D and get more consistent goaltending (Varlamov is still young as far as goalies go, and he has shown flashes of excellence) the Avs future is looking bright. |

If that could be somehow printed on the side of every puck... kinda like Bilbo Baggins' ring.... the world would be a better place. |

Did I say that? I just find it funny that you list all the things that make Cody more desirable and they happen to be the same things for Kass. No Kass is not as developed as Cody, but he is also younger and bigger, plus they are completely different players. Gillis made a descision to go another route, we get it, you don't like the decision. No reason to go on a self persecution complex, but if you must, the next time I'm driving through the interior I'll stop by and help you nail yourself to your cross. - A_SteamingLombardi
Look, if you dont read the comments before making that post then the point you made is off track. Kassian is behind, and whats the point of trading a developed player for a project player in the Canucks position at the time? It puts you behind and anyone still saying we needed the bigger body instead right away... even if we had to wait years is crazy. We have been center starved ever since. The trade put this team behind and if you cant see that, your head is in the sand. People may be sick of hearing it but I'm not going to join the choir just to have the satisfaction that I'm following the flock of sheep.
I dont know why you trade a promising 21 year old for a project player anyways. Teams trade away their aging veterans on expiring contracts for young players.... not a 21 year old blue chip for 20 year old question mark. Say what ever you want.... you are playing dodgeball with my intended point *or* you jumped in too late.... read what Lefty and I were discussing. The Canucks needed help right away not in 3 or 4 seasons. Thats what the (frank)ing draft is all about and Gillis has done nothing but contradict himself about the direction of this team...
Lets not beat around the Bush here. AV fans have had their head in the sand about the Cody ordeal. It's what people do. Denial. Most of the guys giving me grief because I wont buy what seems like pretty thin rumors are AV and Gillis' biggest fans. If I sat here day after days poking fun at Cody, they all.... er you all would be singing along. Independent opinions on here meet rejection always. Fan site..... what do you expect.

Be that as it may, I don't want him on my team. Same goes for Tim Thomas. They may be good hockey players, but they are terrible people and I don't want to be embarrassed having to cheer for them. - micah555
Well, you have to ask yourself, how much do you want your team to win? I personally don't like Cooke and Thomas even more so, but in the end it's all about the results.

Yeah I read it. I think his contract is inflated, but for 3 years he would have been a nice addition to the team even if he was overpaid a bit. - golfingsince
As I noted before, I think Clarkson would have been fantastic as a net presence for us on the power play - as well as adding physicality and grit/toughness to the line-up. Perhaps Kassian can fit the role down the line. |

They knew Kesler was hurt when they traded Cody. The non sheep were in a uproar over it while the "Gillis knows best" camp called people names who didnt like the timing. - boonerbuck
I didn't like the trade or the timing, am I a Gillis knows best or a sheep, or are they the same, I'm lost? |

Is it just me or do you think the Avs will be better than the oil moving forward.
Landeskog, Duchene Reilly, Mckinnon, Statsny I think are a much better fwd group than
Hall, Eberle, RNH, Yakupov, Gagner, Paajarvi,
I like the way the Avs are doing this rebuild. They just need to trade statsny for some D help and I think they will be a good team soon. - Bluechip23
I thought the Avs would be better last year. Injuries and terrible coaching seem to have gotten in the way. |
