It seems it will never be put to rest, it'll be carved into Gillis headstone. If this team falters next year be prepared for the I told you sos'. - A_SteamingLombardi
You can't truly judge that trade, IMHO, for at least three more years. Give Kassian some time to develop and mature under a coach who'll give him some tough love yet play him and give him confidence. We shall see. |

Schroeder....?
Believe me, he looks a lot more promising than Lain has so far... - Fosco
I've got him going to Winnipeg in an Edler trade for Kane. |

IMHO in terms of not hindering the development HuSh might be our best bet. And quite a few of the scouting reports say he's very close to NHL ready - Bieksa#3
Certainly don't disagree.
It's easier to learn the defensive side of the game in the bigs (AHL) against men anyway, since a decent defensive forward in the OHL can struggle at the higher levels.
Not a fan of rushing either side, though. |

your to much. You choose what people are right and wrong in the media. I'm going by something somebody I actually know who knows Cody. He's got no reason to lie to me. I take him at face value, unlike most things I hear in the media.
Iol give u one more. When Cody lead the WJHC in scoring he didn't even make the list of top 3 players on the team(3 best players are chosen from each team in the tourny every yr) - Bieksa#3
How so very selfish and immature of him.
Almost everyone on here was up in arms over that of course.... even many of the media were baffled by that and Bob Mac was in disbelief.
So you know a guy you were saying....

I think its like 3.5 mill and comp is only a 2nd rounder. What if one of the teams in the trade talks for JB offer sheet him for 3.5 per. Leafs match or just threw away Frattin and a AHL goalie. - Bieksa#3
And still be keeping $500K of their cap hit |

I think Gaunce may be more self-entitling......he's bad people, not like Cody..... - chompsey
It was truly a shame of a trade. To lose such an outstanding member of the community was almost as hard as the loss of such skill and emotion as demonstrated countless times on the ice.

I was going to suggest something along the lines of Tanev + Schroeder for Burmistrov (maybe +).
But I haven't followed Burmi's recent play, and it sounds like the Jets aren't thrilled with it....hence the KHL rumours.
So maybe that's not the best deal... |

Not at all.
Please do.

Just throw in some Edler memorabilia as a stocking stuffer.

He made a suggestion that the two perhaps are corroborating evidence that Hodgson is spoiled.
Big deal...
Lots of kids are/were spoiled.
Maybe it affected his professional life? Maybe it didn't? - Fosco
Ok. I addressed his suggestion. He can correct himself if he didn't intend to connect his contract to his rumor... No big deal... he speaks for himself all the time. I like him in spite of his user name. Don't worry, he and I will laugh about something later I'm sure...

On a positive note, not that things are negative, the Coho (haha) run is suppose to be well above average this season!! |

Nonus gave Bernier 2.9 mil per for two years, I still think Reimer will win the starter spot and be pissed that his back up will make 1.1 more than him. - A_SteamingLombardi
I think the Leafs are in for a good year. Mybe continue on from last year. They got a good piece with Clarkson even if they overpayed. |

Gillis certainly thought he was getting a player ready to be an impact. He said it himself... Kassian may end up being a good addition but Gillis didn't get what he thought he was.
For a group of people sick of the topic its pretty amazing that people (not me) have discussed him every blog since the draft. It also amazes me that people dont think this a worthy topic when the center position has been a (frank) around ever since.... it was at least stable regardless of "protected" ice time for a rookie.
Its hard to buy anything about trading a well developed center prospect with an entry level contract for a player that needs 3 years to prove himself when there is no plan in place to fill the hole in the middle. It really is....

Im in a motel room in Terrace right now fishing Chinooks in the Skeena. Very poor spring run(still got a 30 lb today) but everyone talking how you cant get a line down through the coho to get at the springs out at Rupert right now. Everyone's excited about that run... as am I. I already made my CoHo fly fishing plans for the Kitimat River this late Aug/Early Sept. I cant go on my elk hunt so bumming it on the rivers I will go instead. |

I mentioned something about this the other day. I think its obvious since the cup loss that Gilles has changed his philosophy on how to build a team. His drafting, the Cody trade etc. He no longer believes in a high flying skill team. He is trying to mirror the kings or Bruins. Whether he is right or if we agree is another story |

Definitely agree that Gillis misjudged Kassian's talent level, initially anyways, but isn't that par for the course?
Canucks went from a position of strength down the middle to a weakness in a hurry because of injuries. The only reason the top six center position had trouble was because of Kesler's injuries, can't predict those things. Truthfully I don't remember the details, if Kesler was injured before or after the trade? Looking back I'm ok with the deal, at the time though, I wasn't happy.
Having a healthy Hank and Kesler down the middle with Schroeder as a backup plan is gonna have to do isn't it. |

That's awesome, I've never tried the Skeena but have a friend who lives in Terrance he's offered me an open invitation. I may take him up on it sooner than later. Fished for years up around Dundas Island north of Rupert. Good luck and tight lines buddy. |
