I agree, the Clarkson deal is only bad because of the length of the contract (although yes, there is the usual over-payment - but in comparison to some of the other deals made today - Clowe, Roy etc, it's not that bad). I would have loved to see him in a Canuck's jersey.

In the next five years the Lightning will have to spend roughly $42million (real dollars) for their second line C, Vinny was only owed like another $44million and he had two extra years. I guess they could have gotten screwed by cap recapture in those last two years, but by that time the recapture would have been about $3million/season for 4 seasons. How does the guy fool everyone in hockey who's been exposed to him into believing he was years above his age in maturity? The polled OHL coaches voted him as the most mature player in the OHL yet you say you know a family who knows his....

Maybe it's true but until something credible comes along its hard to take your word over the OHL the coaches. It's in the game that I'm concerned about and he is nothing but professional away from the ice. I know good people who came from bumhole parents. If it's true, shouldn't people give time for someone to grow up and be an adult? Contact negotiations hit snags all the time and that's what you referred to which is completely ridiculous. How is that a maturity problem? Happens with players all the time and the Sabres should have known making him a 1st line center would complicate things.

But when he goes and (frank)ing drags my name through the mud because I've tried to see both sides of the story, I've had enough.

I've said far more good things about Hodgson than bad, and I've said on numerous occasions that the Canucks (AV and Gillis) were likely the root of the problem.

But the kid shouldn't be entirely free from criticism...

Maybe it's because I've tried to be optimistic about Kassian.

I know I get defensive about Edler at times, but it's nothing compared to this...

Sounds like he connected rumors from Ont about his family to this contract snag to me..... it's pretty clear.

No offense about mentioning it Fosco but probly 20 times you shoved it down my throat about him wanting out. In fact, you've told me to drop it because Gillis had little choice because he wanted out to be exact and went on to say you cant play a guy who doesnt want to be here. I really don't understand why people get upset about being reminded of these things.
