I hate gillis for signing the sedins, kesler, edler, garrison Darn! If it wasn't for him we could sign Bozak and Clarkson to 7 year deals!
- pker2theend

Really...you are claiming the Garrison deal as a good one? lol Bozak's was decent...maybe a smidge much but it was a 5 year deal. I agree Clarkson's was too long and a bit too much...but Nonis is "rolling the dice" on that one...still i figure 30 goals and 50 pts and 150 pims and lots of truculence!

I'd say you're about one million too high on Kadri, but who knows...

The rest seem about right.

Hey, he got rid of Horcoff and didn't have to retain salary.

That is an effing miracle, IMO.

- Fosco

With cap space to spare, I'd rather pay Horcoff $5.5 for one more year than Gordon $3.0 for the next 3 years... I really don't get that signing at all.

Garrison was the Canucks best D last year.

As long as he keeps playing like this season, that was an excellent signing...

Guy was an absolute stud defensively, and was on pace for over 15 goals in an 82 game season.

I'm not too worried either.

This team will finally have some ELCs contributing, and that will make a world of difference going forward.

Only thing that worries me is retaining the Sedins for reasonable one year deals after next year, looking at what Alfie got...

- Fosco

They'll sign back diving front loaded 8 year deals.

Yeah, the Gordon signing is bizarre, but I still can't believe he unloaded Horcoff.

1 step forward 2 steps back, I guess.

Only time will tell. Maybe Gordon earns it?

If No nuts gives Kadri 5.5 he will be fired as well. I'm really looking forward to their goalie controversy next year, having a back up making more than the starter, no way Bernier takes the job away from Reimer.

Already quoted as saying they'll only sign one year contracts once their current ones are up.

Horcoffs salary is less than his cap hit, so I could see a team that doesn't spend to the cap taking it.

True. I still think it was a great move that I didn't expect the Oilers to be able to pull off.

I know. I just don't see it going down like that.

Since they aren't 35+, it'd be beneficial for both sides.

7million for the first four years, and 3.5 million for last 4 = 5.25 AVG over 8 years.

And I'm sure they'll be expecting raises for their next contract.

I'm happy we haven't signed someone who is going to cost us down the road. It's about time we let a rookie have a roster spot. Make mistakes and learn from then. We have had such depth for how many years. It has got us nowhere. Time to let the kids fight it out for roster spots. Maybe if we aren't in cap trouble year after year, when the trade deadline comes around we could make a move. Or better yet we suck during the regular season slip into the playoffs in 8th and don't pick 24-29 for once.

The FA pool was weak I am glad we will finally get to see some of our young players.

I hope Archie is re-signed and gets 4 th line duties.

You do know he hit 30 goals once in his career? That's the equivalent of saying Kesler is a perennial 40 goal scorer.

Clarkson will be a 20 - 25 goal guy. He is worth at most 4. Leafs overpaid or gave him market value. BUt thats the craziness of Free agency. I still like him as a player.

Yes, but the Canucks enjoyed cap benefits from the early years of Luongo's contract and have not (would not be able to) pay that savings back, hence the cap circumvention. I haven't found anything in the current CBA that allows for a team and player to void an existing SPC, if you can find such a statement I would be happy to read it.
- 1970vintage

If Luongo doesn't show up for camp the Canucks have the option of voiding his contract:

I wouldn't say weak but it didn't have anything we overly need. I think a playmaker for a second line center between booth and Kesler say JS and gaunce centers the 3rd line with Hansen and Higgins. I would still like a physical D. I'm hoping for zanon actually. I know he's old but 124 blocked shots last year 40 more then our top guy and 60 better then 2nd on our team. He would be a role player. Penalty killer.

A lot of over priced 3rd and 4th line role players in the FA pool this year.
Stalberg, Gordon, kaurpokski to name a few.
Be nice if we could find them within our club for less then a million. Like archibald, Lian.

I think leaving a few contract spots for some Undrafted overagers. Find another burrows. Mallet probably would have went Undrafted.
