Hmm. But he mentioned the other guys?

Also see my addition to my last post.

He didn't mention anyone by name. He just said that they are leaving roster spots open for prospects to earn rather than having a vet in place cockblocking them from an opportunity.

Talked to Hunter for close to an hour for an article and chated with him at FHFF Calgary last year. IMO, I have no idea where this "he has an attitude problem" clais come from.

Nice, confident kid, who is as driven as any athlete I've ever met.

I'd also like to point out that people with attitude problems don't spend 8ish hours a day, for 4 days helping with flood relief the week of the draft.

Yes read numerous scouting reports. Almost everyone said he is determined and loves the game more then anybody they have ever seen. Confidence can come of as cocky. I had him at #6. I had BoHo at #10. When we passed on Shink at #9 and then got him at 24 it was a rollercoaster of things to say about Gilles, Crawford and Co

Matt Cooke to the Wild. Has there ever been a more appropriate match of player-to-team-name?

Not liking minnys team at all. No Bouchard, Cullen, Clutterbuck, Setogouchi. That's a ton of depth

And third line center open for one of our 4 young centers.Horvat Gaunce Lain or Shinkaruk.

Sounds like JS is odd man out.

- VANTEL

Hunter Shinkaruk is a LW'er, listed as a center but played all three years with the Tigers on the wing.

Maybe they have other plans for Schroeder?

I think the additions of BoHo, HuSh, and Cassels might make it worthwhile to try Schroeder at wing again.

(**nicknames courtesy of Dr. Strangelove at HFboards).

I know it didn't work the last time, but that was a pretty short stint a while ago with the Moose, and he might fare a bit better with linemates like Kesler and Booth, who are both much better than who he played with in Manitoba.

Sorry, the way you phrased that made me laugh.

Got a mean wine buzz going on right now...

Probably gonna pay for it once I switch back to beer later.

I like Schroader, but don't see a long term fit with HuSh and him in the line up

I hope they get Clarkson and overpay big time for him. I also hope Bozak walks and then they still have top 6 issues.

LOLs....

I think the BS recapture clause in the CBA, and the fact that the salary cap lowered by $5.5million were also contributing factors.

But Gillis should have known that when he gave Lou the contract years ago...

Who knows, maybe they'll suddenly decide to implement a BS clause that makes the Clarkson deal even worse than it is now...

I figure Clarkson is more then capable of doing that by himself, Komiserak 2.0

Hey, he got rid of Horcoff and didn't have to retain salary.

That is an effing miracle, IMO.

We've heard Gillis and Co mention "internal cap structure" a bunch of times. It was most likely predicated on numbers and how they were effected by the old CBA. Gillis will have a bunch of dough to spend next year.

I'm not worried

What are the odds that at least one of the contracts handed out today is bought out next year?

I'm not too worried either.

This team will finally have some ELCs contributing, and that will make a world of difference going forward.

Only thing that worries me is retaining the Sedins for reasonable one year deals after next year, looking at what Alfie got...
