Darcy always overvalues his players its not a good thing, some gm's don't even bother to deal with him. Darcy has to win every deal its ridiculous sometimes you gotta take chances and hope the trade will work out. - sabresfandan
He got a first for Goose at the deadline. He got a good return for Pommer at the deadline. If he can't resign Vanek he will get a better deal for him. Proven goal scorers at the deadline are a hot commodity for a team looking to make a run. We will get one or two real good prospects a 1st round pick and maybe even a roster player for him at the deadline |

Trade Vanek to LA for Dustin Brown.
Bring some Stanley Cup exp and leadership to this new young core.
Ennis/Hodgson/Dustin Brown - SuperCat
That would put the Kings in negative cap space with no way out of it
atleast be realistic |

hes got every right to ask for it. Miller is still a top 10 goaltender in the league and those dont come cheap.
I stand by my prediction: I think hell get dealt sometime between now and the 15th. When some team realizes they need him.
And if he doesnt, theyll get a good return for him as a rental on deadline day - CaptPantalones
Top 10 rental goalies aren't dealt at the deadline. The Sabres don't want him to stand on his head and have them draft 8-10 again next year. He's gone this summer. |

What a shock............Darcy sitting on his hands.........The NHL has spoken.........Ryan Miller is the most overrated player in the NHL.....No one wants him......Lucky us......... Maybe THIS will be his year.........He really is a great goalie.........Not.........Can't wait......maybe we can keep him for another 10 years. |

What if he is injured? Why would you even take that chance? He has had an injury where he missed several games 3 or 4 different seasons. - Pierceme69
Understood. But if you cant find a trade youd make now, theres no other choice. Darcy (or any other GM for that matter) arent going to accept subpar value for a player of his caliber. You just sit on him until the deadline and see what happens. Who knows, maybe, and its a large MAYBE, the team gets it together and makes a run large enough to convince 1 or both to stay |

So, we'll get absolutely nobody, while the new "division" gets increasingly stacked. "The market just wasn't there" bullpoop will resume I'm sure.

Sure there is a choice. You don't have to outright win every trade. Addition by subtraction is a thing. |

Because he's a below average goalie getting paid too much. |

I think the point is that you should take the best offer you find, and focus on building the team up from the youth. Ryan Miller does nothing for Buffalo's future, and not enough for Buffalo's present. He's gotta go, for whatever (assuming pick(s) or prospect(s)) you can get. Gotta go before the season starts. |

Miller isn't below average he's way above and he's getting paid market value, how can you give Mike Smith almost the same money as Miller? he was horrible with the Lightning ans all of a sudden he plays well with the Yotes and he's 6 mill guy? |
