your taking things from Ek now to be a fact...

you're better than that.

- JVince11

I know, it's just the thought of Calgary having two solid two way centres freaked me out. He did call alfie leaving to the wings though.

Now a domino game. #Stars offer better for Dan Cleary than #Redwings. Det step up or save the cash for #Panthers Stephen Weiss offer.

Holy Christ Dallas...

Holmgren has competition for most aggressive GM in the NHL Now.

Must be refreshing for Lindy.

I think it makes sense for us fans a Miller for Hiller+++ swap and buy out Hiller(possible)

But I cant see Anaheim feeling Miller is that much more of a upgrade to pay the price for Miller.

- toddkac

They would be insane not to know that Miller is an upgrade of Hiller. Hiller wasn't terrible in the playoffs, but he was a disappointment.

Blues have 14mil in cap space (Chorney is listed on capgeek, but he is a 2-way and will be in the AHL.) Buffalo has 15mil in cap space. Next update to this blog, Garth will talk about how Buffalo needs to worry about Blues offer sheeting Hodgson because Sabres are in cap distress.

Reiger needs to make the bold move, but Blues would offer sheet Hodgson and force Buffalo to pay him more;

Stewart would be nice, but I would want to hear what Sacco says about his lazy streak when he coached him and traded him out of Colorado.

- RicoMartin

Stewart has said he wants 5+M in salary and STL is probably going to go to arbitration with him.

that could get ugly... I don't htink i want him here any more.

I think Miller and Vanek will be at the highest trade value in a few days.....after desperate teams lose out on free agency and see where they stand with salary cap there is a good chance they are traded.....If they are on the starting roster I will start thinking Regier needs to be fired....not there yet
- toddkac

I said it before and I will say it again. They will both be on the roster to start the season...so says my well informed source.

Vanek to CLB for Atkinson, Jenner, and their 1st rounder

Miller and Stafford to NYI for Moulson/Okposo, de Haan, and their 1st.

Maybe we throw in a prospect like McNabb or JGL or perhaps a 2nd to even things out in one trade.

The experienced winger and prospects on the wing are key in this trade. A 1st is almost guaranteed i hope.

- JVince11

I like the trade ideas....especially to CBUS

Unless something dramatic happened in the last 18hrs, or will happen in next 30-60 mins, I fully expect Nathan Horton to sign with Columbus.

I think I am secretly starting to like CLB a lot... NSH has always been a team I quietly cheered for..

When Stewart is "on", he is a $5 million/yr player. Unfortunately, he is only "on" about 50% of the time.

it is not that Miller is an upgrade it is IMO what ANA thinks

ANA + Hiller + Prospects players for Miller > Miller + ANA

It is not just Miller is better but also the players you trade and Hiller.

Edmonton hasn't even been to the playoffs since. Even with the best picks in the draft.

They have more talent than us. E5.

When Vanek and Miller are gone and their young guys are coming into their own I don't expect us to be better than them

Where has Stewart said that?

Andy Strickland guessed that is what Stewart wants... Strickland is always off on his contract numbers for Blues. He's not a legit source when talking cap numbers. Said Shatty & Bergy would both be about a million more than the number they got. Haven't seen that number from anyone as something Stewart actually said, just Strickland guessing and people referencing Strickland's guess.

I can agree with that...

I really like Stewart and think that the can be a Milan Lucic type guy that scores 20+ goals and hits everything in sight... not to mention punch their faces in..

I like him.. but like you said.. his effort isn't consistent enough to warrant 5+M salary.

More talent means nothing without results. That teams SUCKS. Period. That young core may have talent but they fail to use it in a way that results in wins.

my brother in law is a huge Avs fan so I watched him back then... he had a great 1.5 years for them.. finished that half year with STL good.. last year he was asked to be their goon and his points and totals dropped because of it even though he had 100+ PIMs.. then htis past season he wasn't the goon any more and he played VERY GOOD.

I doubt that happens. Either something totally unexpected will happen today, or nothing at all. I'm leaning toward nothing at all. Crappy FA market, and, until teams sift through the garbage that is out there, it will be a crappy trade market. This will be the most boring offseason ever. I'm not being negative. I actually think that that is a good thing. Miller and Vanek will command the biggest return at the deadline. This rebuild will take years.

They don't have a bottom 6. Their top 6 is too young to handle everything on their own. They will be a force for years with those guys if they can add a few 3rd liners and a few defensemen. What's easier to aquire, talented young players or a few role players?
