As much as I want to make fun of the Jackets for the Horton deal and the Devils for the Clowe deal at least their gm is trying to improve their team. At least sign a RFA Darcy!!

One free agent signing means one less roster spot to see if Armia/Catenacci/Larssen/etc, etc, etc, can play for real.

No FAs would be a victory for Darcy and Sabres. AS others have pointed out, look at how many FAs get bought out and/or underperform after they get their shiny, big contracts.

How could you blame it on penny pinching, they had a 4 year 21.5 million dollar offer for Drury, and then told him at the end of the season we'd match anything financially. Same with Briere. This myth that Darcy was held back by ownership is laughable. Especially with the money handed out to Roy,Connolly, Vanek etc.

Yes, since all it takes is one injured goalie on one of 29 other teams to give Miller more value than he already has, and it takes an injury to specifically Miller to kill his value. The odds of the former are much higher.

And the example with Crosby and Malkin is just a testament to the fact that perceived value is only actual value if the player is able to perform to the expected level.

Ya but at that point you're just hoping to get lucky. And just cause someone else's goalie is hurt doesn't mean they go straight to MIller....plus the clock is ticking on him becoming a UFA
