Darcy should be worried about getting Hodgson signed before his rebuilding plans backfires on him and we lose him.

Word was that he is working on Hodge and Ott's extension...

I don't know why everyone is mad Darcy isn't doing anything, it's an hour into signing and we all know how Darcy is.
- SABRES 89

It has nothing to do with FA signings, it has to do with not being able to trade Mler and Vanek while 98% of the trade partners already took action and now ther is no market for Miller and he walks next year for nothing...that is the fear that is being realized the longer we go through summer.

Both of them aren't going to walk, that won't happen. Trading Vanek is a mistake they should hold onto him if he wants to stay.

I think 4.5-5 gets it done on a 5 year contract. Take him until hes 34.

You lost Briere and Drury because of Regier's dumb outdated policy. That he quickly changed after that horrendous off-season...

Goodbye troll . You don't even have your facts straight . We lost those players due too penny pinching ownership !!!

That might get him if your a playoff contending team... Not Buffalo. We would have to grossly overpay for him to come here.

For people saying it takes one injury for Miller to have value. What if Miller gets injured? Then what?
- ImThatGuy

Injuries are part of the game. It's like saying what if we traded Miller for Crosby and Malkin and then both of those guys had career ending injuries in their first game as a Sabre. Then we would've lost that deal. If he gets hurt and loses his value, then it is what it is.

I'd much rather see Miller gone before the puck drops in October. Of course, nobody wants to sell low, but too risky waiting till the deadline...he could get hurt or just play mediocre hockey like most non-Olynpic years, and either way his value is not even close to what it might be now. Full rebuild. I'd love to see 26 stay (rebuilds don't have to take a decade) since he is a class act and works like a horse.

Enroth is going to be a stud #1 IMHO, and the less of Miller in the locker room, the better.

- LandlordTom

Of course I would rather have MILLER out of the locker room, but teams will be much better to assess needs AFTER free agency not during or before. We are loaded on D, We are set in goal, we are young and have the advantage of taking on huge contracts from teams (philly) that have already used up their Compen Buyouts, that is our ACE in the hole......WE can DRILL a WELL in ANY DEAL we make! Not many teams are capable of that.

Not trure completly. Darcy had a policy to not negotiate during the season. He could have had both locked up mid-way through that season. He chose not to. It backfired. He now signs guys before their contracts are up (During the season)this has also backfired (Stafford, Myers)

I want him though... it might get Vanek to sign an extension... it might get our young players to play up ot their potential too.

One free agent signing means one less roster spot to see if Armia/Catenacci/Larssen/etc, etc, etc, can play for real.

No FAs would be a victory for Darcy and Sabres. AS others have pointed out, look at how many FAs get bought out and/or underperform after they get their shiny, big contracts.

Wait so people are allowed to say If other teams have injuries Millers value becomes higher. But what if Miller gets injured is like trading Miller for Crosby and Malkin?

How could you blame it on penny pinching, they had a 4 year 21.5 million dollar offer for Drury, and then told him at the end of the season we'd match anything financially. Same with Briere. This myth that Darcy was held back by ownership is laughable. Especially with the money handed out to Roy,Connolly, Vanek etc.
