Again, why on earth would STL send a conditional 1st to re-sign Miller, when they know they can just offer him a contract at free agency next year. Please show me an example of a trade like the one described in which the team offered a conditional 1st if the guy re-signs. You can't because they don't do it. You're going to come up with some example which is unlike the trade described, and then I'll have to point out how it's not the same.

I agree with ya. Miller is not going to get a first round pick in return.

Maybe Ennis or Vanek aren't looking too bad to them now...

Something to note:
Drury bought out
Briere bought out

Lesson Learned: Signing the top guys in F/A rarely works out for the team. Clarkson/Horton will both be overpaid 2-3m then what they are worth.

Sharks traded Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh last year in a package that included a conditional 3rd rd pick.
If the Penguins either re-sign Murray, or advance to the third rd of the playoffs, it become a 2nd rd pick.
That research took longer to type than it did to find. Stop being an obtuse ass, and go troll someone else.

Miller is going to SJ or Van......if he is traded at all.
Let's see who Buffalo signs today, before we all throw in the towel on the season.

I'm still in favor of actually having pieces in place to actually rebuild around, IE 26 and 30.

That being said trade em if you can get good value, but I wouldnt trade them unless its a good deal. AKA dont trade them just to trade them.

- Homer

I usually agree but being in last year of contract. My opinion neither is resigning.
Lets trade both now. If we are truly in a rebuild would rather see Enroth and Hackett play. Trade Miller for whattever. Vanek i think we could get a good kid. We would have a ton of money to spend next year. Complete rebuild.

Whoever said we would be better than the oilers this year, I think they just vaulted ahead of us. Gordon is a solid pick up and Ference will help improve the D.

Always respect your opinions on here but "rebuilding" around Miller is a big mistake. The organization needs a new direction and resigning a goalie that has worn his welcome out should not be the play. Now I agree don't give him away but at some point you'll have to.

Our Gm refused to give him the terms he wanted. if he was going to re-sign here, he would have, especially after his wife blew up on in the internet about it. It's not really a big blow when we all knew we could not retain him without significant salary going out.

Why would Buffalo throw a $5 offer sheet to a guy like Stewart when they are in a "rebuild"? No reason to risk giving up a lottery pick on him.

Would not be suprised if we did nothing. My opinion is Darcy is lost right now and his plan is flawed.

Really, so, Paul Gaustad is worth a first, but a potential franchise goaltender isn't? Darcy overvalues his players, but people on this board seriously undervalue them.

How is that in any way like the situation of a Halak for Miller swap, one that involves a conditional 1st for a rental who has already moved on from their club?
