Revisiting Scuderi tweet from earlier. Now hearing he's likely going back to Pittsburgh. 3-4 years has been discussed. Around $3 mil per

He's done it before... and especially with their deals shaping how our salary structure will be going forward I can see him being very careful to give them too many $$. I want to see them locked up though. They are the team moving forward.

The question then is, why wasn't these done sooner? All of them could have been worked out per-July 5, rather than waiting.

I see Lindberg and Fast being here in 2014-15, not this season. This season, I do expect Miller to be here, at least at some point, and obviously I think Kreider should be here all season long.

I'm curious to see what Fast and Lindberg look like, Im not sure if it would will be this year either. I do expect to see Miller and Kreider a lot though.

Pens need to beef up that shaky defense too.

An excellent question. Is Sather prepared to make McDonagh the highest paid D man on the team? Is he prepared to pay Stepan, more than Callahan?

I totally agree. I don't see the sense in waiting. Why couldn't they be locked up like everyone else is doing?

Same, Miller might need a little more time in the A but if he doesn't, all the better.

A lot of RFAs are still unsigned, not just the Rangers. I don't think there is too much cause for concern with offer sheets being handed out to any Ranger players.

No, because the other 29 GM's are scared poopless of what he might do to them should the same occasion arise.
- OLDSCHOOL#6

This. Trust me, not even an idiot like Homer will risk getting the Rangers pissed off at them. We're safe.

The Rangers organizational philosophy is that a guy has to dominate one year in the A before making the Rangers. There are exceptions to that rule, but I can't see Linberg being one of them, since he hasn't played on North American ice.

He did say that there are a couple of young players who could make the roster

I think Lindberg's a different type of case though, he's already been the SEL playoff MVP and done well in a high level league. Its not like he's coming from the NCAA or OHL. I think he could help right away but maybe later in the season. Fasth same deal, although OL may be a little closer. Even Kristo was mentioned by Gord Clark as having an outside shot right away.

Yea, Sather is a lot of things but he isn't stupid. He will lock these two up to solid contracts.

I don't think our players will get offer sheets. Sather probably has more clout around the league than any other GM right now, and with the Rangers being funded by Dolan's endless pocket (I know there is a cap), I don't think any team is really looking to make enemies with our club. Clearly, the first priority is to get the 4 guys resigned, but if there is any cap room left, I think Sather should be making a play for Shultz instead of Moore. I don't think our forward group is really looking bad at all. Our defense looks solid but I'm afraid of their youth and potential vulnerability to have a subpar season early in their careers. McDonagh, Del Zotto, Moore. All of them are 23 or under and no matter how good they are, its not crazy to think one of them has a little trouble adjusting to a brand new system. And Staal being a huge question mark, what if we need to pull him? Is Falk really trustworthy to take up the minutes Staal would have gotten? McIlrath, even if he's ready to take a step, you can't count on him for more than 10-12min a game. What if Staal can't go AND one of our young D is having trouble? I think we really need to pickup Shultz. I can live with putting in a forward like Fast or Lindberg etc... if we needed to, but its much more dangerous putting in a dman that is not ready. I don't want to spend the money on Eminger, I would rather spend a little more to get Shultz. Thats just my opinion.

I like the fact that the Rangers aren't involved in anything but depth moves.

Hendricks always seems to score and play his best when he sees a Ranger jersey. Why not put him in one?

I think my #1 target for what we realistically could add as a UFA would be Boyd Gordon.

But, I think his price will be too high for us
