If you look at the health care system I'd say no.

If you look at the fact we pay a poopton more here for everything I'd say yes.

- BashCH

When I was living in the states in 2005, I paid $45 for my health care. I had a friend working at the same place as me, making the same money as me, decided to not pay for healthcare thinking he was invincible. He broke his leg on a cycling crash. He had to sell his car to pay his hospital bills. He he paid healthcare ever since.
You only need free poop when people are too lazy or irresponsible to get it themselves. Now because of them, people who aren't lazy and are responsible have to pay for the others.

Well, people do not pay a poopton in taxes (but don't ever get ill or go to school), but the government still is 17 trillion deep in debt. Our méchant socialiss in Quebec aren't even as bad as that.

Their army cost them a poopton...where's ours ?

Quebecs debt is 250bil, Canada's is 613bil. 25% of Canada's population is Quebec, so give another 150bil to Quebec. 400bil is the total Quebec debt. US has 35x more population than Quebec. So Quebec has about 85% of the US debt per person. Not that much more "healthy".

Our social programs and pensions we can't afford are totally worth it also.

P.S. I'm not pro-American politics, I prefer our system...I just think it has major flaws.

I'd rather have our social programs that need to be reviewed than a useless army.

Largest employee in the US. Employes close to 1.5million. They give good pay, great benifits, lodging, food, and all you need is a HS diploma and a greencard.

Edit: Ironically, Obama is trying to create jobs, but in the same time reduce the Militarys personel.

I'd rather have the government pay teachers and doctors who will really bring a plus-value to the investment by helping the population than throwing trillions down the poophole to PROTECT OUR LIBERTY!!!!!

But hey, if you do not like bit pow pow you're a wussy.

Yes, Quebec does a good job at creating Doctors. They all go to school here since it's cheap, then move to the states because we can't pay them what they're worth.

OTTAWA -- The Canadian Army is marching into its past.

As part of the ongoing image makeover of the military, Defence Minister Peter MacKay announced Monday that the army will replace the Maple Leaf rank designation on the shoulder boards of officers with the traditional "pips" and Crowns in a nod to the country's past.

The ranks of non-commissioned officers will also be returned to the original British Army and Commonwealth designations.

The decision means the rank of private, within the army, will be virtually eliminated and replaced with trooper, bombardier, fusilier, rifleman or guardsman, depending upon the unit.

The designations were in place throughout the First and Second World Wars, when Canada achieved some of its greatest military triumphs, and the changes don't strip away any Canadian identity, but rather strengthen the bond with the past, MacKay said.
