I don't know about that. There's that modified NTC that Oduya has that could gum up the works. - EKolb13
If Campbell can be moved anyone can....plus I think he has to give a list of teams he will accept a trade to at the beginning of every season. |

TSN has Rosival at $2.2/season. - nathanjf
That leaves about $2 mil in cap room, not enough for Kruger and some buffer for the season. Sounds like either Carcillo or Brookbank will be traded or buried in the minors to create more cap room.

I would say if Leddy takes another step this year that could make Oduya expendable and Clendening will be here next year. - UnnamedSource
It would be great if Leddy can step up big time at both ends of ice. But I wonder how much his new contract would be for in 2 years if he improves so much? I guess it still wouldn't be too much more than Oduya's 3+ salary anyway. |

I don't know what kind of return he would bring anyway. He really turned into a solid d-man here. Fits our style perfectly. But while it wouldn't be a pure salary dump with him, it would probably be for picks and prospects. |

I think if Oduya just equals what he did this past season I would like what we could get in return. |

On these boards, do you guys argue this personnel and cap stuff year-round? Or will it sort of die down until next season starts to kick in to gear?

So the main reason is just a salary dump. I would still rather trade away another piece to bring back a more substantial return. It is a tough call. Like you said, Leddy will bring back a better return. But he also has a higher ceiling. I think the choice will be down to these two in the coming years. Don't see Hawks trading one of the core 6 or 7 if you count Hammer now |

Yep, the choices of who to move to clear salary space for the big dogs becomes harder next year. It's also crucial some of the kids in the not too distant future are able to play well up here - Danualt, McNeil, Nordstrom, hopefully TT, etc. |

I am excited for our future. The top 4 will be here awhile. Then you add in solid bottom 6th depth with Shaw, Saad, Smith, Danault, McNeill, Hatman and 2 top 6 guys in Bickell and TT and this can be a powerhouse for a long time. Still would like an impact 2nd line center that can do it all. Someone LIKE bjugstad. Not that he is available, though |

In order to keep the top few core guys I think we'll end up seeing a ton of movement on the bottom 6 and 2nd/3rd pairings every year, those are the guys we'll need to have good, cheap prospects fill. When those guys get too expensive you trade them and fill in with another prospect (or cheap vet). But with Toews and Kane being so young, aside from an injury or them wanting to leave, there's no reason we can't build around them for another 10 years (or more, never know). Hopefully a couple of them develop into long term core players to replace the older guys like Sharp and Hossa. |

Definitely agree about Kane and Toews. I still don't like having so many players making over 5 million in a cap era. 6 now and maybe 8 with crawford and hammer's contracts. Hard to want to change the core group since they won 2 Cups in 4 years. But losing 1 of them while gaining a huge amount of cap sace while still getting a solid return of young players would be the way I go |

Yeah, I saw that. It sounds a lot like the stuff I've been posting for the last two years.
What I'm asking is do you watch the games, or are you formulating your opinion based on something else? - EKolb13
I live in TX so when I visit family in Chicago I try to catch a game or two in Rockford and that is what I have "seen" also a head coach, granted in other sports, but I switch kids positions when I recognize strengths and weaknesses, and this is one i saw and seems to make sense. |

When are you going to follow through on your "adios" stuff?
Don't you have a neighbor whose grass is too long, or that plays "rock and roll" too loud after 7 p.m.?

Rhe Hawks are still in a good place financially and there are 3 xenters still available on hat if the the Hawks aanted could grad one for the #2 center spot

I'm on board n I matter what. I'm very impressed with the front office. This is a results business. The Hawks are the envy of the league.
If Pirri is the #2 center when we get started this season so be it .
The Hawks only have 670k left in cap space ? |
