If a man doesn't want to meet the President because the President is a tool. I have to respect the fact he is a man standing on his principles. Dan Hampton didn't go when the 85 bears went. It takes more character to stand on your principles then to follow the sheeple.
As for Thomas coming to Chicago. I say no! he is to old and took a year off. he will not be able to bounce back after the layoff. - mmurray892

I didn't like the WH snub personally because it's a ref flag if you are not mature enough to stand near a man you don't like or disagree with then you got issues. These WH snubs are childish whether a Tea Party guy does 'em or someone on the political left. So I think Tim Thomas is a cheeseball because of the WH snub.
That all being said, the guy is (or was) a beast goal tender and overcomes some 'technical questions' about his game because the guy just fights like hell and him being of interest to the Hawks should have NOTHING to do with his politics, but rather if he is a good player and is a good fit on the team.
That's the issue, I think Thomas is a horrible fit on this team given Crow will probably STILL be questioned when we enter next season. Having Thomas sitting on deck would create major goalie controversy. Hell, I'd probably be one of the first ones yelling to put Thomas in the moment Crow gives up a softie. - kwolf68
Highly doubt there would be controversy. Q, the FO and Thomas would hold the line that he is a backup (Thomas is always team first). If Crow has a bad streak people would call for him just like many here were for Emery.
Some other White House refusals came from people like Thoreau, Mandela, and Twain. Hardly a new form of protest. A little ridiculous from a sports player though in the middle of the season. That was a mistake.

I'd take a rusty Tim Thomas over Khabi... but probably better for CC's peace of mind and confidence to get a crappy backup so he doesn't have to listen to the meatheads and the media questioning him. - CBHawks88
I don't recall Thomas having any real injury issues. Khabby has had a bad back for a few years and missed a lot of games.

I called him a headache, but I never said anything about him in relation to his teammates. He's a headache because he attracts drama through the media. That's my complaint.
Also, he'll probably want too much money to sign here. - EKolb13
Agreed. I am sure some pissant reporter will be baiting him every night to stir up something. Doubt he would take the bait though.
Money will be the issue. But, if no other offers are there.... |

He's Kane's mentor! - Hemingways
Another reason not to sign him.
He may begin "training" Kane again. He seems to have veered from the Deadspin regular/pending DUI track. |

There's more to the game than just numbers. Hedberg would be a better choice of the 'Bulin Wall, for the aforementioned reasons posted by others. Both players could hypothetically still start in stretches of games and could still possibly be great as a back up/veteran mentor for Crawford. |

If he's cheap enough, I could live with him as a back up. - EKolb13
Wasn't there talk of something happening in the room during the 2009 WCF against the Wings? I don't remember the details, but it would seem like he would be unwelcome after that. |

I'm sure that isn't a problem. The Wirtz family has a liquor distributorship. I'm sure their in house guys know what to do with this. They handle alcohol related things all the time.
