If he's cheap enough, I could live with him as a back up.

His speed did open up things in the RS. Otherwise who cares. Not sure he will enjoy the Trotz system though over Q. Even more defensive.

Would really like to see the Hawks replace that speed at forward. It ain't comin from Pirri and Morin.

- tredbrta

Yes...I mentioned that several pages back. If he was frustrated with Q's system, not sure he'll be thrilled with Trotz.

Yes. The guy would get a chance to show he can still play on a contender and pull in a bigger contract to close out his career.

The guy ate it and went to Finland to play for nothing to develop his game. Took him a decade to get to the NHL. That is self made.

- tredbrta

I didn't like the WH snub personally because it's a ref flag if you are not mature enough to stand near a man you don't like or disagree with then you got issues. These WH snubs are childish whether a Tea Party guy does 'em or someone on the political left. So I think Tim Thomas is a cheeseball because of the WH snub.

That all being said, the guy is (or was) a beast goal tender and overcomes some 'technical questions' about his game because the guy just fights like hell and him being of interest to the Hawks should have NOTHING to do with his politics, but rather if he is a good player and is a good fit on the team.

That's the issue, I think Thomas is a horrible fit on this team given Crow will probably STILL be questioned when we enter next season. Having Thomas sitting on deck would create major goalie controversy. Hell, I'd probably be one of the first ones yelling to put Thomas in the moment Crow gives up a softie.

I don't get it either....Apparently wanting to prove himself by playing a bigger role on a team is bad and is considered selfish...oh and he doesn't stick up for his teammates but it's okay when Bickell, Hossa, Kane, Saad, etc don't.....oh and the extended shifts...never saw him do that but saw Kane do it plenty of times.....Stalberg will have a nice career and he will do well in Nashville.
- UnnamedSource

Not getting that either. Pretty much the entire team looked the other way in the 2nd half of the RS. Stals was just playing Q's style. If he learns to finish he could be scary. Though the Wings would be a better fit though - more play makers.

Raanta put up great stats. Would like to see him play in some pre season tilts. A lot of teams were after him to sign. 1.5 is a tad high for the #2, but after seeing the $$$ flying today... phuck it. Hes a bargain.

He is a tough guy to bet against. I wonder how many fans know that he was 4 years OLDER than CC, who is not young, before he got his shot in the NHL and played great, world class goal and won a cup.

Have not got a vibe where he may fit best right now. Totally agree, not the best thing to have him backing up some where. Its not like he would not be a good team guy, but when it becomes obvious in practice that he is better than the starter, just would not be good situation.

- TrueGrit

Well said. However, if the only risk is he makes CC look bad then you jump to get him... if it is cheap.

Anyone saying he is a locker room headache please post to a single example of Thomas causing any locker room issue before his Obama moment....

Talking about a guy who worked his way into the NHL at 32. He knows work.

Not pointed at you but the character assassination on the guy because he shafted everybody's pet in the WH is ridiculous.

I called him a headache, but I never said anything about him in relation to his teammates. He's a headache because he attracts drama through the media. That's my complaint.

Also, he'll probably want too much money to sign here.

If a man doesn't want to meet the President because the President is a tool. I have to respect the fact he is a man standing on his principles. Dan Hampton didn't go when the 85 bears went. It takes more character to stand on your principles then to follow the sheeple.

As for Thomas coming to Chicago. I say no! he is to old and took a year off. he will not be able to bounce back after the layoff.

I'd take a rusty Tim Thomas over Khabi... but probably better for CC's peace of mind and confidence to get a crappy backup so he doesn't have to listen to the meatheads and the media questioning him.
