Detroit offered him a part time gig on an assembly line in the GM Factory because he really loves his Chevy Malibu

Actually, minus the numbers being thrown around, this proves that the system put in place is working. It's not the same old big market teams making the splash in free agency anymore. Nashville, Columbus, Dallas, Edmonton, Detroit, etc., being active in signing players is good for the overall health of the league. Parity is good. The cap will go up again, as will revenues, and you can bet there will be more labor strife in 2019 as the two sides wrangle about how to divide all the money. Unfortunately, it's the way it is in the NHL.
- darkman

Considering we're a big market, I 'd say parity sucks.

Considering the Wings were like 2 loses from missing the playoffs this past year...not sure why he's so optimistic about "hockeytown"...

...and zero upgrade to the defense.

- ArlingtonRob

They were also one win away from facing LA in the WCF.

Seems Viktor 'I' Stalberg fits in better with Lebron 'I' James then with Jonathan 'We' Toews.

7?

What other circle jerks do they have besides the Swedish one?

Viktor Stalberg: "I wanted a bigger opportunity, a bigger role on the team. That’s what I was looking for in free agency." #Blackhawks

I.E. selfish 2 minute shifts

No kidding... Wings are a long-shot to win the Cup coming out of the East...
- CBHawks88

Not really....when you consider the Western Conference to be better than the Eastern....Pitt still has goalie issues....Boston lost some depth.....NYR...who knows...Wash...eeh....Detroit will be a top four and have a chance. It also wouldn't surprise me if CBJ made the playoffs...

True...I was simply looking at the regular season.

Playoffs are always a new season...everything is reset. But that doesn't change the fact that the Wings almost missed the tournament.

20 signed, 5.8 mill cap space. Rosey 2.5 mill? Kruger 1.5? Raanta 1.4 = 5.4 mill.
That would be 23 signed with 400k left. I assume Stan is done unless he is making a trade.

F'n A.. bye bye Veektor. Good gawd. Glad we got Rozy and Zeus back. Dont over work them during the season and come playoff time, your payoff comes back and then some. Stan was smart. Zeus and Rozy are the vet factor we lost when Sopel and Madden left. Not to say Tazer, Sharp and the others are not vets, but Zeus and Rozy are the old timer vets. Need those guys around to help the up and coming Rockford warriors.

And what about Cleary? Wouldnt mind having him on the 3/4 lines and on the PK. Still has a damn good shot and great motor.

LMAO, Cleary? Really...PK...LMAO...Your post is akin to listening to my grandpa say...TV remote? Who needs it, I can get up and change the damn channel myself....

They're an interesting club going into next year. If Bob can continue his outstanding net minding I think they're a lock for the postseason...

...of course, injuries could mess up the plan.

Maybe he's optimistic because Detroit was a goal away from knocking out the eventual CHAMPS

But his 'we can't come back' attitude vs Pitts was incredibly shocking for a captain.

I'm thinking Bowman will sign a goalie for about half of what Raanta is making.

I doubt Rozsival gets $2.5, he got 2 years do he'd have to give on the dollars.

Highly doubt Rozsival is making $2.5 million. He made $2 million this past season and I think that given the fact that the team just won the Stanley Cup and they want him back as a sixth defense-man, they'll likely offer the same, or less (hopefully the latter.)

Kruger could get around $1.7 million but for three years, and I expect a back-up and not Raanta in camp next year. So in essence, I think the team will have around $2.2 million to add a back-up and possibly a fourth line grit player. Though likely just a back-up goalie.

Does that mean that the Leafs are now going to be missing the playoffs for another 9 years now that Detroit and Columbus are in the East?

You can forget the first two. Big money, big headaches.
- EKolb13

Thomas never had any locker room issues. In fact, he was extremely well liked by his D men.

Bring him in for a year or 2 at a low price and he provides some great insurance. many of these other true backups are just that - good for a fill in or tops 10-15 games. Not insurance for long stretches like we had with Emery.

Highly doubtful the year off impacted him that much. Talking about a guy who worked his way into the NHL at 32. He knows work.

Not pointed at you but the character assassination on the guy because he shafted everybody's pet in the WH is ridiculous.

I wouldn't mind having him, but he'll want more money than what Bowman will be willing and able to throw at him.

The Eastern Conference is anybody's guess......there is no clear cut dominant team. CBJ was playing as well as anyone the last month of the season and have a really good young coach. Still need some depth but a 6-8 seed next year is achievable.....

Flyers- trying to buy a championship..if Emery gets hurt Mason is your goalie
Islanders- Nice young talent but still no goalie
Sabres -
Montreal & Toronto- Was last year a fluke?
