Me too. They can spot him with Pirri and the other kids, plus Kruger/Shaw/Smith/Sharp etc. can play C. Just keep Mr. Hand fresh for the playoffs, along with Rozy. - Hemingways
I don't see where all of the Rockford kids are going to fit. There might be one or two spots, and that's about it.
Stop penciling in Pirri before he's earned any sort of job on the big club. |

Guess the thought process is that CC makes about 65-70 starts with the Wall playing 10-15 or any other mop up duty. If CC were to go down, it presents problems because the Wall is not real sturdy anymore. Plus it allows Rannta to break in to the north american style game and work out any kinks. They wanted a veteran back up obviously. We got one. - z1990z
The thinking here makes perfect sense. But Khabibulin? What an unexpected blast from the past... Plus he's old enough to remember when Cap'n Crunch was a Lieutenant... I'm not at all sure I like this. |

I'm not pencilling in Pirri. Don't think he's all that and a bag of chips, as the cool kids used to say.
But TSN's Craig Button shouted out to him on the FA Frenzy coverage today.
I'd think the guys from Rockford most likely to get rotated if needed are Morin, Hayes, Pirri, and LeBlanc, unless I'm missing someone. Maybe one spot only with 1 at a time up unless to fill in for IR guys. If you look at the roster, once they resign Kruger, there isn't much room if everyone is healthy.

Khabby's numbers are in on CapGeek, $1.7 mil base and 300k in performance bonuses.

Still no word on Rozy. - Hemingways
That's still an overpay for the 'Bulin Wall. |

I wouldn't add LeBlanc to that list. Not yet.
Honestly, I could see Morin and/or Hayes breaking camp in Chicago. Maybe sharing one spot. |

CapGeek numbers with Khabby officially on the roster:
$4,145,705 available. 21 players. Doesn't have Rozy's signing on there yet. Still have to resign Kruger.
if Kruger gets the $1.75 most are thinking, Rozy can't be $2 mil, Stan wouldn't cut things that close unless he's planning on moving Carcillo or Brookbank and replacing them with a cheaper vet. (My guess is Rozy signed for less in exchange for a 2 year deal - maybe Kruger gets $2 mil. and Rozy is $1.5 or so) |

Doesn't that mean his cap hit is $2MM?
Way too high - better alternatives were out there for that much. - StLBravesFan
The cap hit 1.7m this year, the 300k bonus would be added to next year's cap. |

Im sure Emery leaving might have caught the front office off guard. Emery knew CC was the man and he wanted more playing time. Cant fault him for that. Im sure any of FA net minders with experience would cost about the same. Maybe bringing Khabby back was more of a team thing since he played here for a while. Bottom line.. hope CC continues his strong play and stays healthy. |

Yeah, then I'd agree with that. Too rich for a 4th liner. Lapierre was much cheaper, but maybe he wasn't on their list.
Pretty happy with how Stan has done during the off-season. Certainly much more enjoyable than the 2010 off-season. - howiehandles
It seems like the formula to win is:
Fwds. Top 6 get 35 mil
D. Top 3 get 15 mil
6 mil for 2 goalies
The other 14 mil gets split between the other 15 + skaters.
I know that that's not all that accurate and a huge exaggeration. Still, if you are paying someone more than 2 or 3 million and they aren't on your top 6....you probably have cap issues. |

Maybe, like 1 million plus incentives. Makes sense for both parties. - TyCamScore
And if he doesn't live up to his incentives then he is just a 1 mil cap hit.Come trade deadline is where this may come into play. The good news is that with no playoffs this year e should be rested. |

Go to this CapGeek link on Alfredsson, who signed a bonus laden contract with Detroit today....
http://capgeek.com/player/408
If you hover your mouse cursor over the flag next to/under the P. Bonuses section, a little box pops up that says Performance Bonuses are factored into cap hit.
Maybe later in the year near the trade deadline some of those performance bonuses aren't achievable based on playing time and it frees up some cap room. Not sure.
But CapGeek knows the basics of cap hit and performance bonuses better than any of us do. So I have to say Khabby is going to show up at $2 mil once they add him to the roster. - Hemingways
Cool, thanks |
