Antti Raanta would get a look...a long one. - ArlingtonRob
Well the Khabby signing probably kills two birds with one stone, a veteran backup and a guarantee Raanta gets NHL time while Khabby is on the IR.

Thought Karlsson went back to europe (?)
Antii Raanta is next year's scandinavian experiment. - shruew
Nope, Karlsson is available if they need him.
He is in the backup goaltender aisle at IKEA!
I give up. |

Hawks agree with Nikolai Khabibulin on a one year contract. Over/under for when JJ starts calling for him to be the starter...Nov.3rd. - yahoodi
Did I not call it earlier? New offseason, same scheit MO. Worst FA signing of the year. |

Yep, by far. NHL will take away all of our Cups as a penalty.
Dude, I thought you quit us, like 87 times. Your lack of commitment is sad. |

JJ will probably call for an open competition at camp...if not JJ, someone will.
Especially if 39 pitches a shutout in the preseason. - ArlingtonRob
Yep, can't wait for the "he'll do at least as well as CC behind this defense" nonsense. |

Yeah, but who the PHUCK is going to put him together? That Ikea sh!t is a pain in the ass.
I'd like to know who is going to keep Khabibulin together. Raanta will be seen in the NHL this year.

Guess the thought process is that CC makes about 65-70 starts with the Wall playing 10-15 or any other mop up duty. If CC were to go down, it presents problems because the Wall is not real sturdy anymore. Plus it allows Rannta to break in to the north american style game and work out any kinks. They wanted a veteran back up obviously. We got one. |

Hey Q...argh, how does it feel to be one of the rare few people out there that doesn't have enough brain power to realize that the Hawks have actually had a pretty successful offseason thus far given the particular situation they were handed? Must be pretty unique to be that stupid, huh? Ya know, i see u on here all the time just BASHING every move we make.....its pretty pathetic....Please tell us, if u were running the show, what moves would YOU have made? |

As long as Khabby is healthy by the playoffs, or maybe Raanta looks like he's a better choice as the backup for the playoffs.
Not a horrible situation if Khabby ends up on the IR for a short stint, get Raanta some NHL experience. But I agree, with his track record the last few years it's a lock he goes on IR at some point.

Exactly what I've been saying. Raanta gets to a great situation of starting in Rockford and having spot duty in Chicago |

Ok last hockey tweet, Khabibulin deal could be worth up to $2 M next season if he reaches all his bonuses. But base salary lower |

Too many for Crawford - coming off of a very short summer, hoping to go deep into the pay-offs - would like to see 50-55 starts for Crawford. |

Doesn't that mean his cap hit is $2MM?
Way too high - better alternatives were out there for that much. |
