Still holding out hope for a Dan Cleary signing...... Who's with me?? - Jagbears
Why? Do we have a shortage of wings? Geeze, we got like 3 in the minors who are about ready to come up and play. |

I disagree... Other than drafting Seth Jones which is a good stride forward, they have brought in typical "Nashville-type" players (fringe 2nd, mostly third liners with little offensive upside) into the fold... Their defense is still a force for sure and will continue to be but their offense doesn't scare me - Jagbears
To add on to what Jags is saying here...Seth Jones at #4 was a STEAL for the Preds. But I'd sure they were licking their chops once they saw him there, because honestly, Shea Weber looked all outta sorts with no Ryan Suter by his side. Understand lock out shortened season, but hardly any points, outta position a lot of the time, etc. Preds are lucky they got Pekka because other wise they'd be setting NHL records on goals given up. |

Not liking this offseason..
Keeping guys we shouldn't (hanzuis, brookbank, etc), and losing guys we shouldn't (emery, Frolik, Stalberg)....
And the clowns they're considering in few agency... Ha! Looks like 2010/11 and 11/12 all over again. - fvineze
They're apparently trying to unload Brookbank. Not sure what's not to like about Zus at 1 million for one year. It's a low risk move.
Emery was 50/50 to stay as he wants more playing time to try and get a big deal next year. Stalberg is garbage and wanted too much money. Frolik had to go. Makes too much for a fourth liner. |

And because Kruger was the main PK guy he was taking draws against the other team's top centers almost exclusively...Bergeron ate him for lunch in one game.
A couple years ago Kruger was barely 40% and now he's 46.2%, that is serious improvement.
Go back to your stat book. - kwolf68
Never said he hasn't improved. Its just when you call Shaw a terrible guy taking faceoffs and should go to wing but say that a guy that is pretty much equal on draws and worse during big games is you thought at 2C....
Shouldn't a PK center be one of your best faceoff guys? Also, with 37% winning percentage at the dot, during the whole playoffs, it wasn't just one game he struggled.... Also, if I do recall, I remember seeing Shaw taking faceoffs, at times, on the PK and PP. |

you cant think that way though, he will bury the preds in the standings if Rinne's groin/hip flairs up again this year, who knows if he will be 100% this season by opening game - FourFeathers773
That's true. If he goes down, they are screweddd But past seasons, Rinne won't get out of the damn net for any rest lol |

HE IS NOT A CENTER! Jezus fkn christo - give it a rest - I BEG YOU! - dpard
Really...with all of the nonsense on this board my occasional request for the obvious solution bugs you enough...
...to go all CAPS, and BOLD?
Sorry, but you'll be disappointed. I'll continue my quarterly suggestion of the transparently obvious...
...Patrick Sharp can play center ice on the second line better that anyone else currently under contract.
So keep the caps lock ON. |

It's puzzling for sure - philco28
The Devils are always confusing. They love the very old and the very young.
Maybe they knew something about Clarkson. Dropping that offensive production for a few hundred k and a few years for a guy with concussion issues and 3 goals.... Their fans must be scratching their heads.
Bickell was a steal at these rates. If they had given him the term and signed him before the playoffs we would be worshiping at the Bowman altar today.

Wow, that is a HUGE bargain.
Might be the best deal of the off-season to be honest.

With Stalberg, Frolik, and Bolland (I know hes not a wing but he forces Shaw and/or Kruger to move to the middle from wing) gone .... yea, kinda I just think you can never have enough veteran depth and if the price is right, I'd be all for it |

It's puzzling for sure - philco28
What is puzzling is some of you guys don't realize that UFA are unrestricted and thus have the Freedom to play where they would like. It is not a matter of not wanting a guy. I thought this was rather obvious in some cases. |

Nope. He will be looking for $4m at today's rates. He will be expected to play here unlike the rotating IR in the rest home of Detroit.
Not sure why there is so much love for him here. |

We're still - TommyHawk[much] better than them. That's not debatable.
I'm just pointing out that they are targeting some of Chicago's players of interest.
Targeting some of Chicago's players of interest or the wanna be GM's on this board? |

Shaw is bad, just like Kruger was bad (and still kinda is honestly). It would be nice if our L2-C can push 50% a bit and Kruger is coming closer than Shawzer.
Yes, it would be great to have a good PK guy that can win draws. We didn't have that. Kruger got worked by Bergeron and others in the post season. No argument there. But we had to just live with it because the PK unit was so good this year.

I will be disappointed by a few clamoring for Sharp at C - he played there out of necessity 4 seasons ago - did well - doesn't mean he is a true center. He is a sniper - needs to play wing to be at his best, not sure why they would pay a guy 6m to play out of position
Isn't Kane a better option at C? Guessing your answer is no, why? |

Well, Matt Hendricks was someone the team was looking at for the past couple of deadlines I believe. Stalberg was on the 'Hawks. |
