This free agency period will prove that the Icelanders are a tough sale and IT has NOTHING to do with the arena which Snow and Wang have continually spewed as the issue in signing free agents. The uncertainty of where they will be playing is also gone now that Brooklyn is on the horizon.

So...will they be right or will it be the same old Icelanders. So far, Briere has spurned them. Lets see who we could add to the list.

Thanks Noland

Just looked it up.

Anyone have an opinion about him?

Opinion seems to be he is slow. I rather let Donovan get the shot over Murray. I want Scuderi badly.

You are right, it isn't the arena, I honestly believe it is just simply Garth does not overpay and give in to the demands of agents and players....we always see the players go to the Rags or Flyers...it isn't like the old days when those teams had all the $$, its those teams (GM's) open the wallet and give the ''bucks''. That is why they go elsewhere....Garth is tight with funds (whether it is Wang or not)....even his own players, he refuses to buy into the frenzy and always goes for the deal...if they pass they pass....drives me crazy at times but he offers what he sees as fair...I doubt he even negotiates any further...they don't accept the amount offered they move on.

first off relax...free agency starts in 55 minutes...step away from the ledge.

second, as to the bold, this is purely made up and you have no idea if its true or not; its silly to even say it.

The Maple Leafs like their Long Island-raised stay-at-home defensemen, at least at the start of the free agency period.

It will prove nothing. The team is still in lockdown mode and refuses to overpay for assets, not a bad thing. The stadium is and has been a factor but there are other things at play too. Perceptions can't be changed over night. The idea that Brier 'spurned' the Isles is way over the top since we don't even really know if Snow and company had any real interest in a pint sized 35 year old winger with dwindling production. The rich will continually get richer

Give him a break, he's just bored. It's the first time in YEARS the Rags aren't attached to every free agent with ridiculous numbers flying around..

I'm very happy if Briere 'spurned' the Isles. I rather not block guys like Strome and Nelson for guys like Briere. Now Scuderi is back to Pitt for 3 million per. Really?

Agreed. I think the addition of a top six forward definitely would be welcome, but not a must. We need a dman and goalie. Only the goalie is a must

Right. I'm not sure why adding another forward is so talked up. Adding D is much more important. Adding a goalie goes without saying.

Huh...relax....I'm not talking about today...I'm saying I think that is how he does the deal...I respect it to be honest....he won't be needing a buyout next season like all the others GMs...so who needs to relax now....

Rangers brass did not meet with the Briere camp as your team did.

And this is not about Rangers Icelanders. I was simply pointing out that Snow and Wang will no longer have the arena issue to hide behind. Dee calls them a team short a couple of players from being a serious contender (laughable). If that's the truth, combined with the arena issue being settled (Brooklyn), then there is no excuse. Why wouldn't free agents come? Because neither of those are accurate.

A. We do still have 2 more full seasons in the NVMC
B. Just b/c Snow is not a complete idiot with over paying for UFA's (Holik, Richards, Redden, Kotilik, Drury, Rissmiller, Gomez, etc. etc. etc. ) doesn't mean we are being "spurned". He has what he think is a player is worth.. if someone else is going to offer more so be it... Even our own players he will not over pay them and is usually right to not pay them too much (Blake, Streit, etc.)
C. worry about your own team..

If the Isles are "laughable" to you as being a player or two away from being serious contenders, how are the Rangers serious contenders?

Laughable? You're either not paying attention or you're in denial. Please go away now.
