Ouch.. but I do like the return. I might make this deal..

Vanek & Miller are UFAs in a season.. but Myers is signed for like 5 more years

It would hurt to give up all that and end up with only Myers this time next season.

Bouchard>Boyes
Clutterbuck>Reasoner
Hamonic locked up at a very affordable price for 7 years.
Nabby returns to split time with Poulin

The bottom line is we're a better team tonight than we were after game six. Folks can whine about not grabbing the headlines but this team will already improve with the addition of Donovan, Strome & Nelson. There isn't much sense in being upset about trading a 1st rder for Clutterbuck and then complaining that we didn't sell the farm for a winger who will bolt out of here in two years. Like it or not, this team remains on a slow but steady path to improvement. Trying to make fast and easy improvements in an overpriced market will only shave years off the sustainability of our success.

looking around with some of the deals that were made, Nino could have been included in a package to land guys like: Setoguchi, Bernier, or whoever. He was definitely a trading chip and I think Snow pulled the trigger premature.... Why couldn't he get Setoguchi and Clutterbuck for Nino and a second??

Dense is believing whats happened so far is a real improvment, with a sprinkle of denial. Dense is thinking we will improve enough to take the next step in a conference that surely will be tougher while riding the back of an aging goalie who ran out of gas in a 48 game season.

Its funny how some of you defend garth for every move AND non move he makes.
Any players we dont get are all tainted in some way. Nino was quoted saying he didnt hear directly from the isles they were unhappy or shopping him. Garth has now screwed up two 1st round picks(bailey), arguably add okposo and had to deal one away for a lesser veteran character player. Oh, and a 3rd pick.

So now we arent even getting the most of our draft picks, garths only strength, and when you factor our cheap owner and our mediocre coach, you get a team that is trying to operate from a position of deficiency in too many areas.
Expecting constant improvemnet when you operate any business this way is way beyond dense.

and my quote:

I don't know about light years better, but I think there's the potential for it to be better. Tough to say for sure but it does feel like a slight improvement

who sounds more realistic?

Word was the Isles hadn't received much interest in Nino. Not sure why. My reaction was the same though after seeing the Setoguchi trade. Tough to say how it all came about.

LA didnt want Nino.. he was included, they declined
Setoguchi became expendable once Cooke was signed today.

Maybe if Snow waited till today he could have gotten that deal done, but Clutterbuck might have been traded elsewhere by then too & Im happy to have him.

Love the Bouchard move. He's fast and plays with heart. He will put up 65 points playing with Tavares and Moulson. Nabby was best FA available today and we resigned him. We locked up hamonic on the cheap basically. It was a good day. The team is better then they were 2 months ago. I know we are probably a great goalie, d man and forward away from being a contender but the isles slowly keep getting better. I like the trend and don't want to see a trade for a guy that doesn't work out.

Clutterbuck,Bouchard,Regin are light years better then boyes, aucoin , reasoner. Still think we need another defenseman and then this team could have a better year than this last season. Stop flipping out guys, just because we didn't trade for Ryan doesn't mean snow didn't try.

This is the bottom line, right here- doesn't mean you can't do something else. It just stops you from having that hanging over your head.

Too much to give up for two players not signed beyond next season (Vanek and Miller) and one who has apparently stated he doesn't want to play in the east and wants to play out west (Miller).

Replace the 2015 first with a 2014 second and I would definitely pull the trigger. With Myers locked up I don't mind giving up Reinhardt as much. Also being able to put Vanek on a line with JT would be some sight to watch and having a Miller/Nabby tendy combo gives us one of the better tandems in the league. Even if they were to bolt after the season Bailey and a first for Vanek and Poulin and a second for Miller are trades I think I would make anyway.

We have a TON of solid D prospects and giving Strome and Nelson some more time in the A isn't the end of the world.

Conditional pick for Vanek....1 if he signs, 2 if he doesn't. That's all I have for that deal.
