Sources are indicating the Rangers will be signing former #Isles Rick Dipietro to serve as the teams backup...terms not yet disclosed

That is fantastic. It will be worth you writing my location if true. I'll believe it when I see it

When the 82 game season is played at 3 games a week instead of 5, yes he does have a chance for more rest. We also don't know the role Poulin plays this year. Are they splitting time? Then he should be more rested. I also agree with what someone else posted about Nabby's playoff history. I think he is just not a playoff performer more than he was tired. Pitt forwards went high glove side all series and he never adjusted.

It was mentioned on TSN that Emery chose Philly because he liked it there. If you want him to sign here you need to pay much more than 1.65. I'd rather have Nabby back for 3 Mil and give Poulin a chance during the season. You already know Nabby and the team has a familiarity.

But most of all, if our goalie of the future in not on the roster now, then we need to trade for an established starter. Most people on here were looking for a stop gap it seemed. I think that's what we got.

Glad to see someone is happy with Nabby's signing.

Lets talk again sometime in January about this.

Then we'll know for sure.

I'm beginning to wonder if our future goalie is even in our organization!

He does a better job grabbing the second tier (second day and beyond) players than he does with the top guys- mostly because his owner has to pay two guys who don't play here anymore....which was Wang's fault in the first place.

There really isn't anyone left? Second tier? I'm guessing you mean waiver wire fodder?

.....or maybe Snow was waiting for the goalie market to settle to show Nabokov that he wasn't going to do better than this...see, I disagree on Snow- I think he's actually a smart cookie. His owner is running this team like a cheapie coin laundry, and he's doing his best to put something on the ice with no money. At this point, maybe Wang should just fail to make payroll, so the NHL will let him sign some expensive free agents with their money. It's time for him to go, at this point. He saved the team- thanks. Now move on.
- dcb1

I can see that and you never know what was offered and what wasn't. The problem becomes when fans hear that their team has interest in so and so and another team swoops him up for a reasonable offer, it makes everyone wonder WTF is going on.

An 82 game season will be less demanding?

I agree that he did a terrific job during the season. But he ran out of gas after 40 games.

Relying on him for a full season? I just dont see it.

I really cant believe that Emery signed in Philly for one yr and $1.65 mill and we couldnt do better?

Or its just UFA still want no part of the NYI's.

Hopefully we make a trade for goalie in the upcoming weeks.

Until its legitimately addressed. Goalie & "D" are still our weakest positions.

He won't and shouldn't play them all this year. He had to last year, because they needed to win EVERY game down the stretch to make the playoffs, and they didn't have anyone else with a proven track record. This year, those kids are going to have to at least get a shot to see what they can do at some point. That said, I'll say it again- if they don't get any defensemen....

I agree to an extent. Grabbing Emery should've been a must for Snow if that was the only option.

There are quite a few still left- look at the lists...the ten or so they've spent all day talking about aren't the ONLY free agents available.

I hear the next step is to buy out Hank & run with DP as the starter.

Its only 310 on July 5th and I'm already disappointed. I knew/know they wouldn't spend the necessary money on free agents but I'd hoped Snow would part with some assets in a trade for our 3 glaring weaknesses. What's it going to take? Brought back nabby for a year and signed some scrub. Great. What do u do for an encore Garth?

Turn off the light.

- Mancalledsting

anyone expecting the Isles to jump into what is a very weak UFA market and throw giant long term contracts around was an idiot for holding out hope of that. And for thinking these contracts being signed are a good idea.

I said before if we could get a reasonable goalie then I'd be perfectly fine starting camp with the rookies pushing for spots and would still consider it an upgrade.

Also, anyone throwing in the towel on day 1 and 3.5 hours into free agency is hilarious foolish and short sighted.

Unless the Rangers are planning on Henrik to play 82 games next season it makes no sense.

Starting Ricky 12-15 games in what should be an extremely tough division is like handing over 18-25 points to your opponents.
