...or is on a tight budget.

That's not an excuse when you have cap space you have to fill. People dump good players to get that cap space. We sign players to bonus laden contracts they'll never reach to fill it. If the monies are being spent why not spend it on a viable player? That's where the problem lies.

Fair enough. Do you think it's possible Nabby was just so worn out by playoff time that he just ran out of gas? The shortened season didn't allow him to rest at all down the stretch. And let's not forget that he was one of the few seasons we even made the playoffs to begin with. It's only 1 year.
- BringBackBalky

An 82 game season will be less demanding?

I agree that he did a terrific job during the season. But he ran out of gas after 40 games.

Relying on him for a full season? I just dont see it.

I really cant believe that Emery signed in Philly for one yr and $1.65 mill and we couldnt do better?

Or its just UFA still want no part of the NYI's.

Hopefully we make a trade for goalie in the upcoming weeks.

Until its legitimately addressed. Goalie & "D" are still our weakest positions.

I don't agree. If the money is being spent either way I doubt Wang cares what it's being spent on. You think he cares whether it's spent on Nathan Horton or Bailey? What difference does it make, it's being spent.

Do you honestly see that happening?
- Cptmjl

There are still several available, so we have a shot...Snow has always been better on all of the days other than this one as far as that is concerned.
. Plus we do have the depth to make a trade....but of course that will also be looked at as a negative, depending on who he trades.

I hope so. Playing games to reach the bottom of the cap is becoming so tedious.

Perfect example that something is not right here still. Whether its the owner, GM, teams reputation, whatever. That is a guy that probably didn't give the Isles a chance to finish their thought before telling them no thanks.

Hopefully. Even if he does not, he better be ready to spend serious money in Brooklyn. The excuses are almost all done. The Brooklyn people will not sit by with Wang trying to run it cheap in Brooklyn.

My problem is this- if Phoenix and New Jersey don't have any money, then they shouldn't be signing anyone that anyone else wants. I'm tired of paying for Islanders season tickets so that the Coyotes can sign Mike Smith. I don't mind paying welfare for poor people....wealthy people are a different story....

no, probably not if the dollars/terms are the same but i dont think bailey is going to get the same deal...also if the isles signed horton, there is nothing to indicate they wouldnt resign bailey. so from wangs perspective:

horton & bailey
or
bailey

When the 82 game season is played at 3 games a week instead of 5, yes he does have a chance for more rest. We also don't know the role Poulin plays this year. Are they splitting time? Then he should be more rested. I also agree with what someone else posted about Nabby's playoff history. I think he is just not a playoff performer more than he was tired. Pitt forwards went high glove side all series and he never adjusted.

It was mentioned on TSN that Emery chose Philly because he liked it there. If you want him to sign here you need to pay much more than 1.65. I'd rather have Nabby back for 3 Mil and give Poulin a chance during the season. You already know Nabby and the team has a familiarity.

But most of all, if our goalie of the future in not on the roster now, then we need to trade for an established starter. Most people on here were looking for a stop gap it seemed. I think that's what we got.

The goalie market is tough for sellers to peg, I think. Some get a king's ransom, others can't get market value. I'd bet St. Louis and Buffalo both are asking for quite a bit, and just aren't getting the interest at those prices.

.....or maybe Snow was waiting for the goalie market to settle to show Nabokov that he wasn't going to do better than this...see, I disagree on Snow- I think he's actually a smart cookie. His owner is running this team like a cheapie coin laundry, and he's doing his best to put something on the ice with no money. At this point, maybe Wang should just fail to make payroll, so the NHL will let him sign some expensive free agents with their money. It's time for him to go, at this point. He saved the team- thanks. Now move on.

He does a better job grabbing the second tier (second day and beyond) players than he does with the top guys- mostly because his owner has to pay two guys who don't play here anymore....which was Wang's fault in the first place.

Its only 310 on July 5th and I'm already disappointed. I knew/know they wouldn't spend the necessary money on free agents but I'd hoped Snow would part with some assets in a trade for our 3 glaring weaknesses. What's it going to take? Brought back nabby for a year and signed some scrub. Great. What do u do for an encore Garth?

Turn off the light.
