Than why even make the comment? Because of injuries? That's a bad analogy, any team would be more apt to take a chance with a better player of course.

So for those of you that are already jumping off the bridge, who would you have liked Garth to sign today based on what everyone is getting? I haven't looked at one guy/contract and said, damn we should've got him. That's just me though.

Why? Because I disagree with your out there analogies? They reek of complete total homerism. Horton and Bouchard comparison because of injuries? Really? It's just stupid.

Unless our D suddenly becomes good and Nabby plays better than any of us expect we are not an eighth seed

We needed a change in goal and we need defense. Those holes could've been filled today. They weren't. It's simple.

Scuderi at 3 mill seemed reasonable. Stalberg seemed to have a reasonable deal.

You just said not even five minutes ago he wasn't. Did your homer pills start to wear off?

Good pickup for the third line... not a top line option!!!

Only one I would say is Ference. That contract is good term and AAV, but the interview I heard with him he wanted to go home to Edmonton.

you just seem very angry 2.5 hours into the offseason; teams still have to get under the cap, there wasnt one contract im jealous of, there are plenty of FA still available and quite frankly the team is better today then they were at the end of last season. i dont see why people are so pissed?

Absolutely. You overpay if you have to fill a need. Now Snow will fill out to the floor with Bailey's and Hamonic's contracts instead of filling it with a player that can help this team move forward.

That first part is the key- our defense needs an upgrade of at least one , preferably two players who are better than Hickey/Finley/Martinek etc. That has to be addressed, or else we slide back this year.

I'm not pissed that's a bad adjective it would be nice to see an effort from management to improve this roster that has glaring holes in it. We did not see that once again. Snow takes the path of least resistance... Ex. Nabby

I really believe Weiss can be a good 2nd line player.

He may be.

Like I said. Hes a good player but I havent seen all that much of him. I'm really not in a position to make an argument one way or the other.

Emery would've been nice. Anyone, you have to improve after last years playoffs. You don't think so?

As koolaide guy I am usually the half full guy on this board. That said this year was a real opportunity for the islanders. With so many teams dumping quality players via trade, buy out and waiver b/c of cap restraints a team with cap room... Nay... Cap room to the FLOOR. it was a good time to grab a top tier player. Instead we have done the normal which is a bunch of Long shots... and past their prime guys. I would have rathered one exiting sign ... even an overpayment and let the kids fill the rest. (I think the Schneider trade was the big miss.. if Nino and the pick did not get it done.. He should have done something to get it done).
