I forgot about the Blum walking thing, I used to root a little for the way Poile ran things, very hard job being competitive with the financial restraints, but now it seems he has no interest in offense at all, baffling!!

Did the Flyers sign him yet or did he go somewhere else?

I honestly have no idea why they didn't move down a spot for Lindholm. Then you have something to build around on offense for once.
- hereticpride

Or trade the pick for a top, young offensive talent. Think Boston would have traded Seguin for that pick?

To me, it's a risk worth taking. If you could have had Crosby for 14 years at $8M, you take it, you don't worry about all the possible negatives.

For a team that isn't always at the cap in spending, sure. But for the Flyers...I'd love to have him, but that contract scares me.

Weber can't generate near the revenue for a club that Crosby is for the Pens (merchandise, luxury box sales, etc). The risk from a pure financial stand point is much safer with investing in Crosby as opposed to Weber.

I understand why the Preds matched from a business standpoint to save face with their fan base, but Weber isn't nearly the "cash cow" of a Sidney Crosby.

I agree on that. But for the Flyers, it wouldn't be as much of an issue, since their actual cash flow isn't an issue. But yes, it may end up hurting Nashville in the end due to the real dollars involved.

ESPN ranks Pens, Preds and Wings as big free agent winners!

I guess when you bring back the same team plus Scuderi it's better than getting the best available dman, forward and goalie while not breaking up the nucleus

- PhillySportsGuy

Who cares what espn says... I really only watch I'd say maybe 10 hours a year of espn since they dropped hockey. Occasional sportscenter or 30 for30 program. I taKe no stock in espn. Will forever be bitter against espn and glAd bettman told them to f off when they wanted back in NHL. Only thing I miss is Tom mees/ bill Clement calling games

Emery I saw, great job on the signing, 1 yr deal, woot!
Anything go down with the team?

Did they trade anyone else, Coburn, Couts?

I like the Flyers off season so far.

will they trade a D man, or just keep all 9?

They'll make a couple more moves, IMO. I think they'd like to get a winger to play in the top 6, preferably with Giroux, which could move Voracek to Lecavalier's line.

But I'd be OK if they just found a taker for Meszaros' contract for a 4th-7th rounder.

It is likely they will shed some salary somehow. there has been discussion that they have a deal ready for Gagne for the year but cannot sign it without shedding salary. Neither side seems panicked by this at all.

Why move voracek after the success he's had in that spot?

He's had success on other lines, too. I think they'd like more of a shooter on Giroux's line.

That would be the easiest thing for the Flyers to do. Somehow I expect more to happen.

Time to walk away and let deals come to you. Plenty of time when dealing from a position of strength.

Panaccio is such a clown. He's saying that Giroux has Flyer written all over him and if he'd become an RFA he wouldn't have looked to go elsewhere. Oh for heaven's sake. Alfredsson moved from Ottawa--anyone can move!

And then talks about the full NMC and compares it with Carter. Well, the full NMC doesn't kick in until next July 1. So there are no more guarantees than Carter had. (Not that I expect him to be traded, but it is perfectly possible.)

That's probably the wise thing to do. Teams will sit back and see what areas they need to upgrade on players they missed out on. Then I expect to see more trades to fill those needs.
