It does bother me that Shero gets a ton of credit. Crosby and Malkin fell into his lap. He's made some good moves, but it's not like he drafts all stars late in the first round like the Flyers have several times now.
- PhillySportsGuy

He's running his team like a video game- sign everyone to big contracts.

I'm too lazy to actually google, but he has- what?- 40 mil spread through 4 players? And he's a great GM? Cmon....

Not even close to what happens in the NBA. Paul Pierce was carried off the floor on a stretcher in the NBA finals because he couldnt walk. Then he returned 15 minutes later to finish the game. They called him a "warrior."

There is diving in the NHL too and I'm just gonna leave it at that

Ask Bowmans little boy in Chicago about that one, Tallon built that team B4 they threw him out

Its like building a house and being fired right before you pick out the colors and decor. Then some guy comes in and picks out the finishings and takes all the credit.

Its nothing like the NBA. The best teams will have 5-10 games where there players just take off and sit out. The Spurs were fined for sitting their all stars too many times in back to backs

Apologies to all the NBA fans in advance. But I find it unwatchable. I grew up watching the great NBA action of the late 70's and 80's. What they have today, is a far cry from that. It's a shame.

I agree. Although I was born in 1987. The game is so difficult to watch. It looks like a pick up game. There is no intensity. There is also such a huge gap between the bad and good teams.

Unless you're a desirable destination it take legitimately 5-7 years to rebuild.

I think what annoys me the most is how there's no "team". Lebron gets drafted to the Cavs who went like 15-70, then suddenly they go to the conference finals. There's certainly an I in team in the NBA and that bugs me. That's not what sports are about. The Pens have Crosby AND Malkin, but they still might not even win their division. The Tigers have Miggy AND Verlander, but the frickin Pirates are the best team in baseball. The Vikings have AP, and they were a bubble team this past year.

Also, I hate the lack of parity. What's the fun in watching a sport where teams will consistently win or lose 8+ games in a row? There's teams that go 60-20, and others that go 20-60. I mean, even the Astros and Marlins at least put up a fight.

ESPN ranks Pens, Preds and Wings as big free agent winners!

I guess when you bring back the same team plus Scuderi it's better than getting the best available dman, forward and goalie while not breaking up the nucleus

I like flying under the radar with little expectations from the MSM. It allows the young guys to just play and not be badgered by the local and national media. I hope Mason never talks to the media again.

Seravalli, carchidi, panaccio and randy miller will follow him home and wait outside of his house knocking on his door. WHen he finally tells them to go away, they will write an article about how Mason doesn't like the area and never likes to leave his house except for games.

It makes no sense, man -- I've been railing about this for two days, because it's like the world has gone mad. Totally insane.

I look at some of these deals and I'm just flat-out shaking my head at how the Flyers get brutalized like they do by people, including some of our own fans.

Val Filppula got five years, $25 million today. VAL FILPPULA. Whose career high in goals is 23. Whose career high in points is 66. He's never had more than 40 points in ANY OTHER SEASON HE'S PLAYED.

Meanwhile, some people hate Scott Hartnell -- who has not had fewer than 40 points in seven years, when he was injured and had 39 points in 64 games -- and only makes $4.75 million per season!

That's a horrible deal for Val Filppula! It can't be justified! There is no justification for that contract! NONE!

I know you get it, some others. But I say it again: We will miss Paul Holmgren when he's gone.

Doing some back reading so I'm a bit late to this party.

But, I think part of the reason why people give the Flyers so much crap is because a lot of hockey purists still hate the Flyers for the broadstreet bully days. If you go back and watch that documentary that HBO did a few years back they interview some people who saw exactly that and admit to it. That grudge might have carried over into a new generation of people who are around hockey.

No, my bad, they are not over, I looked at the top 7 salaries on that team before all additions & figured they had to be over after Rask signs

my bad, I still don't get what they are doing, the Seguin move was unreal, giving up on him already

- puckhead17

Seguins a natural center. Krecji and Bergeron are still young and are fixtures. I like the move for Boston they are going to be a bastard to play against again

I know I shouldn't care about such things. I know it's juvenile and petty. But it makes me want to stab somebody to read that.

I have to that I'm pretty happy with the way FA has gone. Flyers haven't given up any assets and they upgraded goalie, D and the Forwards. He's got assets to deal with now. Just keep the picks this this year and get more if you can.

Serious question. Would you pay Briere 4 M to play for us next year?

I know MTL has a different team and different needs, just asking if folks think he would be worth 4M to us?
