Agreed -- Michael Ryder for two years, at that salary, is a really nice signing. It's like Lamoriello got Ryder and Clowe confused.
- AllInForFlyers

clowe has treaded some very hard miles in his career. clearly in decline, imo.

I look at is as more of he had one very good year, that was an outlier. I think if he plays well he can still be a 20 goal, 50 point player who plays a hard 2 way game. That's what the Devils are hoping for.

your right, I just checked, I guess they changed the bonus system, I remember when the hawks won the cup 3 years ago they got into cap trouble the following year bcause toews and some other hit some bonuses

His total possible salary ($6m) must be available on the cap. Where the penalties will apply to next year, assuming he meets all of them, is if Boston needs to LTIR a player or two and ends up accruing over 64.3m in salary counting roster and LTIR players.

This is how the Flyers were penalized on this year's cap. LTIR for all of the players they put on it plus salary paid to players on the roster went over the cap ceiling, along with players reaching some of their bonuses made the bonuses count towards this year's cap.

I don't see what those players have to do with Giroux's deal. I don't feel that Giroux is going to stop playing at a high level.

Who do you think is a better player? Giroux or Parise?

- MJL

I do not have the numbers in front of me but, I would say they are on the same level. Parise better defensively and Giroux better offensively

They didn't change anything. The bonus cushion works just as it always has. Those bonuses were a different type of bonuses.

Well with the foolish contract Lamoriello gave Elias, at 37 it's going to be a black mark on Lamoriello's legacy.

I will give anyone 10-1 odds that say Elias won't have a single point against the Flyers next year.

I mean he's a 37 year old stiff right? RIGHT?

Well once Giroux's new deal kicks in. Parise is going to be making considerably more money on average then Giroux is in those 8 years.
