I agree with this....it seems Gags wants to stay and they want to keep him but they have to wait and see if what they are working on actually goes through

There's no rush to sign Gagne.

He or Hall can play wing or Hall could be healthy scratch.
- Adam1

Psshaw! You don't sign a guy for $600,000 so he can play the bench.

Good points. I think if Gagne was signed and added to the current roster, he's absolutely a top 9 forward. He would force Rosehill to the Phantoms I would assume. Not sure if Rosehill can be recalled without being placed on Waivers. But to me, Rosehill and Newbury are interchangeable. In fact Newbury probably has more upside.
- PLindbergh31

I don't think Rosehill would be the player moved off the team. If they sign Gagne, I see a bigger name being moved.

I think they would like to make a move before signing Gagne. Like moving a defenseman before making any more commitments. Just my guess.
- stveshdy

I think you're right there. They don't want to be left holding the bag, so to speak. They want to know what moves they're going to make to create the Cap space to be Cap compliant for the Season, before loading up too much. All I'm saying is that the off season Cap space is there to make other moves right now, if they chose to.

So they are back to carrying an enforcer on the roster again.... Maybe one day the Flyers brass will realize it's not 1974 anymore.

It's there but it doesn't help them if teams know they have to unload a player. They could stay with what they have if they wish.

If you want to label Rosehill an enforcer, go ahead. But he's a solid role player who skates well, can get in on the forecheck, and can play a physical game. And yes, he can fight. There's a reason why Montreal traded for Parros. Some are resistant to these reasons. But teams still feel the need for a player who can fight.

HA! I love that guy even more after today -- Dave Nonis, Lou Lamoriello and now Peter Chiarelli have lost their damn minds!

I got nothing against Jarome Iginla -- he's going to the Hall of Fame -- but Good Lord! He's not a $6 million player anymore, and you didn't have to pay that because Horton and Clarkson didn't even come in that high!

Just because it's for one year doesn't mean that salary isn't ridiculous -- it's insane!

Rosehill was drafted in 2003, he's played 83 NHL games. I'm not sure he's really solid at anything.

In watching him play last year, the small sample he played ok, but I would prefer a guy who is more versatile.

I don't feel like Iginlas deal is any different then Timonens from a one year stand point. Boston needs wingers, makes sense for one year.
