I don't get caught up in the hooplah of "he's a star player... Slobber slobber..."

For those who don't know this, let me throw out there that I'm black. I just wanted to say that this offseason has been super exciting but today has been incredible for me in the sense that I can now say that the Flyers have had two black hockey players on this team at one time. This to me is bigger then having a black president!!
- dingo8urbaby

I for one, am looking forward to the day when the Flyers have two North Korean's on the team.

Ok, apparently there are diff rumors involving MTL/PHI... Okay, well bottom line, I've not heard of anything remotely close between them.

Sure there is room for him now without a trade.

Just cause teams are overpaying for broke down players don't mean we have to overpay for a good one. This team has real needs that they've struggled to adequately address over the past decade in defenseman and goaltending... I'd rather eat up cap space there and there is way too many nmc's on this payroll for my liking
- JoeRussomanno

The point I'm making to you is it's not overpaying. It's saving money down the line. Giroux would command a double digit Cap hit if he reached Free Agency. This contract is going to put them in better position to address those other needs down the road.

That's what's wrong with you...he was talking about your 'deal'.
- tangent_man

Let me put it this way, I've lived through too many big trades and overpaying contracts to not value depth and overall good rosters. How far have the jets gotten in the playoffs with Kane and buttfuggenuglien

Laughton or Hall can play on the Wing.

Joe has been a poster here for a while. That statement is absolutely not true about him.

Look I like him I hope from the bottom of my heart this works out but I feel like I've been to this dance before and gone home with my own anatomy in my hand. They're taking a risk with this, just like with bryzgalov and Pronger etc etc

Bottom line is Laughton one of the top 13 forwards on the team. I'd say right now, he is. A lot happens during a Season. Injuries, trades, etc.

Has Laughton any history of playing wing? I doubt you sign Hall if you expect Laughton to play. Unless there is a deal involving Couturier at this point.

I don't see it as the same thing Joe. He's a top player in the League, and the team's best player. This is a great deal for the Flyers.

As of late, maybe but overall I haven't been. However you're right now referring to my opinion on a trade that would weaken this team, if you don't get that trade which was proposed would in fact weaken then I'm sorry don't know how else to explain it other than a team if dedicated, skilled, disciplined players wins, not a bunch of stars ask this years penguins.

Need to have depth, especially at Center. I would not be surprised if there was some deal made involving a forward. I have doubts that Couturier is getting moved.

I just dont see it unless there is a trade. For 4th line, out of position, and burning a year in pros without being able to send to minors. I think Laughotn would be a very good option at 3rd line, I just dont see them keeping him up for 4th line wing.

Hall could be 600k insurance in case there is an injury or they try Laughton and decide that he isn't ready. Hard to tell when more moves could follow. Don't hear anyone complaining about where Rosehill fits in the top 12; how is Hall any different?
