I disagree. Certainly, I would have loved a lower price, but that's wwhat happens when you can't add cheap years at the end of the deal.
- Jsaquella

In all likelihood, unless Giroux's level of play falls off a cliff. That deal is a steal for the Flyers.

Maybe for just Buff, but Evander Kane is going to be a star in this league....I could only imagine what his point totals would be playing next to g.....honestly i dont think Winnipeg would do that trade

But MJL said there is no chance of this happening. Said he will be on roster for sure.
- youarewrong

He very well could be on the roster, bit early to be setting it in stone.

i would take buff if i got Kane
- nonpoint22

I wouldn't. Love Kane, but Buff is the exact opposite of what a hockey player is supposed to be. I have 0 interest in adding him to this team. Not to mention, he has a big salary and we need to shave some (salary, not lbs).

and sadly he'd still lose to Joey Chestnut who's in good shape.

I stand by it. I still think Laughton is on the team. Unless he is traded.

I beg to differ, his level of play needs to step up about two not he's at least, he's now paid more, correct me if I'm wrong than Crosby or Malkin and only has the fact that he beat them in a series where their goalie absolutely sucked. So hee needs to bring it in the regular season AND the playoffs. I think he can do it but he has to do it... We'll see

69 hot dogs in 10 mins.

Most of these competitive eaters are guys who are pretty fit.
Apparently if your an enormous slob there isn't much room in your stomach for a massive amount of food in a short period of time.

It's the truth. I'm 5'8, 150. My buddy is 5'11 pushing 300. I can out-eat him because he starts sweating and gets out of breath in 5 minutes from the way he eats. It's disgusting and a sight I wouldn't wish upon a Penguins fan. Okay maybe a Penguins fan, but you get my point.

He's not paid more the Crosby or Malkin Joe. Look at some of the deals that Free Agents have signed. This year and last year. If Giroux is a Free Agent, with other teams involved, how much do you think it's going to cost to sign him? How has he not brought it, in both the regular Season and the playoffs to this point?

Say the Flyers signed Giroux to a two year bridge deal, for 6M a year, that takes him to UFA status. How much do you think it would cost you to re-sign him then? Still think you'd get him for 8.25 then? What will the Clarkson's and Clowe's of the League be signing for then?

You're wrong, at least by cap hit. Crosby on 8.7 mil and Malkin is 8.7 this year then jumps over 9 mil

For those who don't know this, let me throw out there that I'm black. I just wanted to say that this offseason has been super exciting but today has been incredible for me in the sense that I can now say that the Flyers have had two black hockey players on this team at one time. This to me is bigger then having a black president!!

Giroux is not paid more than Crosby nor Malkin, both in cap hit and in real dollars. Crosby will pull $12m per season for the next three years and no less than $9m through 2022 (when giroux's contract expires, at this point Crosby's contract dives in real dollars), Malkin $9.5m each year, and Giroux $8.275 each year. Capwise, Crosby is $8.8m, Malkin $9.5, Giroux $8.275. It's a big cap hit now, but it's definitely a good contract and definitely the right move. Just watch how much higher salaries get each year moving forward. You'll be so glad they got this done now, and for as many years as they could.

Just cause teams are overpaying for broke down players don't mean we have to overpay for a good one. This team has real needs that they've struggled to adequately address over the past decade in defenseman and goaltending... I'd rather eat up cap space there and there is way too many nmc's on this payroll for my liking
