The issue is that all bonus money has to be accounted for on the Cap, until it is determined that it is impossible for the player to earn that bonus. Regardless of how unlikely it is. I think in Schenn's first year here, one of his bonuses was for averaging 25 minutes a game in ice time. And another was for playing all 82 games. One of the reasons why the Flyers sent him down the first year to start the Season.

why did the Kings negotiate such a stupid contract with Schenn's agent?

If Homer negotiated that deal, fans would be killing him for it

You hit the nail on the head. There is something about an italian hoagie that makes everything come together.

When I leave Philly for an extended period of time, I miss italian hoagies more than anything else.

This is intriguing because it means we have 2.8M of cap hit that we have no idea about. Homer knows many things we don't including the bonus incentives. Perhaps we will see Homer do something tricky like the Schenn demotion you pointed out from last year again.

Homer does deserve some props for his trickery. Examples: hiding Briere in the AHL for a little to e cap compliant a few years ago, trading for UFA rights are now a common practice and he invented that, he didn't invent but was good at long term contracts that paid heavy front loads and then fell off so players could more easily retire or be traded later in their career (obviously no longer possible). Shifty that guy.

I'd have to go Italian hoagie too. Hot peppers, oil and vinegar. Roast pork, broccoli rabe, and provolone ranks up there too.

It means that at some point, more Cap space will become available to the Flyers. Holmgren will know it before we do. Capgeek has ways of finding this out though. And the quicker the better. Because if you are under the Upper Limit, you are banking Cap space. If you're over and using LTIR, you are not banking Cap space.

I believe Briere was on LTIR, not in the AHL. He would have had to clear Waivers to go to the AHL. That never happened.
