So how much salary do you think they need to get rid of. Someone has to go. Who's it going to be? What would you do from this point?
- Dkos

Well they are a little over 1M over the Upper Limit. You'd like to have a cushion of at least 1M for injuries and call ups. They have too many defenseman as is. It makes sense to move a defenseman. Meszaros makes the most sense to me.

I think they either need to lock him up now or trade him. I don't want him to walk for nothing after next season.

The trading of Coburn talk has been like he is a bum. The guy is our top d-man and logs a TON of minutes. The only way he gets traded is in a deal for a proven NHL player which upgrades the team substantially. No chance he gets traded for cap reasons. None. Coburn is VERY underrated in philly.
- Flyers2821

Im with ya playa, I wanty Coby to stay. All of this D upgrade talk, think a lot of us are forgetting about cool man Luke. He was pretty solid last season and is still fairly young himself. I think our D will be much improved even as it sits today.

True, but I think we need an upgrade cause Kimmo is retiring next year. After that happens we're in need.

Emery called the Flyers and asked for Steve Mason's number so they could chat. They're going to be skating this summer in Toronto.

The clear cut choice is Meszaros. Grossman is at a reasonable cap hit and a very reliable d-man. Meszaros is made of glass.
- Flyers2821

They're both always hurt. Mesz has more upside when healthy

Another poster posted the numbers/ player which is what I was looking for, wondering where you find them? Also, if it is public record of what the bonuses are for (specifically Schenn's).
- coffee junkie

You can find out how much bonus money is in a players contract on capgeek.com. You cannot find a breakdown on a players specific bonuses and what they are for, and for how much anywhere. That info is not available.

Here is an example for Schenn.

http://www.capgeek.com/player/1624

However if you read Exhibit 5 of the CBA, it will give some insight into what kind of bonuses a player is eligible for.

Capgeek has the total bonus dollars listed by their name. The starred amount is the amount of bonuses they are eligible for.

I do not know all of the specifics for what they are but most of them for this year require him to be an All Star and win a major award. Previous ones were mainly tied to ice time. I haven't looked up what Couturier's are.

So if Schenn's are All-Star and Award it is very unlikely?

Perhaps Homer isn't too concerned with using Pronger's LTIR $ right away?

I just remembered reading something about Schenn's at some point, but yeah it's not a matter of public record that you can look up easily.

The issue is that all bonus money has to be accounted for on the Cap, until it is determined that it is impossible for the player to earn that bonus. Regardless of how unlikely it is. I think in Schenn's first year here, one of his bonuses was for averaging 25 minutes a game in ice time. And another was for playing all 82 games. One of the reasons why the Flyers sent him down the first year to start the Season.
