So what are the chances Read is re-signed now?
- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah. I think his cap hit is 4 million. Or in that range. Good deal for Isles.
- PLindbergh31

Wow 7 years at 3.8....that's the best deal of the day. He must be giving up some UFA years there right?

so are there any deals pending right now. We have 14 forwards not including laughton, cousins and those guys and what like 9 defenseman?

They're hoping to field two teams. It will increase chances of winning a cup from 30/1 to 15/1

Why did Columbus have to wait to get good until they come into our division?

I think they either need to lock him up now or trade him. I don't want him to walk for nothing after next season.

How did you come to that number?

The amount of bonus money, that players that are eligible for bonuses, have written into their contracts.

So how much salary do you think they need to get rid of. Someone has to go. Who's it going to be? What would you do from this point?

Would assume just one of either Mez, Coby, or Grossman.

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Simmonds - Vinny - Schenn
Read - Couturier - Talbot
Rinaldo - Hall - Rosehill

Timonen - Streit
Coburn - Schenn
Grossman - Meszaros

Emery
Mason

Obviously cap wise they need to shed some $$$ but I am happy with the way the offseason went. Keep the young guys in tact and let them grow. Put two goalies in net on one year deals and let them fight for the job. I even like the streit deal for the first two years of the deal. Overall... the team is a better team than it was last year with great potential for young kids to have breakout years

The trading of Coburn talk has been like he is a bum. The guy is our top d-man and logs a TON of minutes. The only way he gets traded is in a deal for a proven NHL player which upgrades the team substantially. No chance he gets traded for cap reasons. None. Coburn is VERY underrated in philly.

Emery for 1.65 is a huge steal. Probably the biggest of the day.
- JAKEw1234

I am surprised Emery went for it. I like his confidence in believing he can be # 1 and get that big contract. Otoh, he has never played 40+ games for 7-8 years now - there is no telling that the hip will withstand that kind of stress. And the horrendous Philly team D could easily ruin the goodwill he has earned from the Chicago years.

The clear cut choice is Meszaros. Grossman is at a reasonable cap hit and a very reliable d-man. Meszaros is made of glass.

Another poster posted the numbers/ player which is what I was looking for, wondering where you find them? Also, if it is public record of what the bonuses are for (specifically Schenn's).

I agree. Grossman does get injured at times, but Mez is ALWAYS injured.
