We should ask for their 1st 2 years from now instead. Since their just starting their rebuild it'll probably still be a top 5 pick, and it gives us a much better chance at getting that next-crosby prodigy kid who's draft eligible in 2 years.

Looking at some of these deals getting handed out today, if anybody thought I supported Paul Holmgren before, I've doubled down.

Ryane Clowe for $4.85 million a season? For five years? For three goals and 16 points?

David Clarkson for seven years? At just shy of $6 million per?

And people complained about Scott Hartnell's six year at $4.75 million? Seriously? David Clarkson's getting SEVEN YEARS.

I think Paul Holmgren doesn't get nearly enough credit. Not nearly enough.

There is a kid like that. I think he grew up in Crosby's home town, and he's like 15 and was the best player at the U18 tourney this year. Nichushkin was there and he was apparently still the best player there.

So if Clarkson get's close to 6M a year, how does that make Giroux's 8.25 deal look? Had that discussion this morning.

Also, Emery for 1.65M could be a steal. If he plays to the same level as he did this past Season in Chicago. But there will be a different team in front of him, obviously.
