If he had Vancouver ownership, Bryz would still be on the team and we would be signing a different tune. Although, the ownership probably wouldn't have forced him to sign a goalie.

Wait, what came first the chicken or the egg?

- PhillySportsGuy

If he had Vancouver ownership he wouldn't have been forced to chase Bryz and we'd still be using Bob.

preferred thomas, but i'm still very impressed. homer played the mkt correctly and p/u a plyr w/ tremendous competitive fire...someone they are comfy w/. this move also signals to mason that he's in an honest competition as they seemed to indicate to him.

we are paying almost half the cost of bryz for tending that will likely be at least a slight upgrade. way to go homer

What are you talking about? Mason & Emery are both on one year deals. If it doesn't work out, they both walk.
- idiotsallofu

The signing of VL4 put you guys right at the cap.

And what are you guys going to do next year? Giroux just got a 5 mil raise... with Couturier and Schenn both RFAs. You guys are TIGHT on what you can do.

Have to think Chicago would have at least matched the Flyers number.

Emery is thinking he can win the job, and parlay this opportunity into a contract.

The #Flyers have moved Briere/Bryz and signed VinnyL/Streit/Emery and haven't increased their cap hit with those moves. F,D,G all improved.

not as tight as you would think... We will have nearly 20 mill, check that (with G's raise *does math*) 16 mill next off season with the cap going up and our FA's.

Car with Komi and Im getting nervous that Mez is going to be hard to move... even for nothing. When he gets healthy can we waive him?

I hope for you guys sake you get the Calder version of Mason and not the gaping hole that followed.

Homer aint making it easy on you guys with these signings forcing his hand at trading away guys.

- aecliptic

It's more like the other way around. He knows he's going to dump Mez on someone, or send him through waivers if need be, and he's signing players assuming he has that cap space.

As it stands, the Flyers will have about $12m to work with next summer, with 14 players under contract. If we move a defender like Meszaros to clear cap room, there's even more. The Flyers have some flexibility, even if it seems like they don't.

Ya he's supposed to be cleared mid-july so we'll be able to waive him.

Seravalli and Timmy P want everyone to know that the Flyers are spending much less on goaltending than anyone else. They want us all to know!

Tim Panaccio ‏@tpanotchCSN 4m
So the Flyers are spending league low $3.15 million on their goalies next season. Emery salary they said is $1.65 million and not $1.75m

Frank Seravalli ‏@DNFlyers 5m
Right now, 22 teams spend more on one goalie than Flyers' $3.15M combined for Mason and Emery.

Frank Seravalli ‏@DNFlyers 11m
Only Toronto and Boston are currently spending less on goaltending than Flyers - and that's because Rask and Bernier are RFAs.

He's coming here with the intention of winning the starting job. No doubt about it. I like having that kind of competition in net.

What's the alternative? have a world class goalie and surround him with a team that can't score and lose playoff series after playoff series? I mean you have to be sick of watching 2-1, and 1-0 playoff losses.
- PLindbergh31

Ill tell you this much, its aint fun... but atleast I got to see my team in the playoffs. We got a new coach now, hopefully he opens it up.

- Adam1

I was. He isnt a starter, nor a 1B guy. If we were going heavy with Mason as our #1, I think Greiss could do a good job.. He could also break out and play very well.

I see him as a 15 game guy.
