Gillis isn't that bad of a GM. He's not the best in the league but honestly, after pretty much Wilson, Armstrong (he's the St.Louis guy right?), Poile and Mafia Lou, most are pretty average.

Then you have the Nonis', Feaster's and Regier's who plain suck

Didn't work for Alex Burrows, Chris Higgins or any other the winger the Canucks have tried to convert because they had good FO stats in limited tries. Wendel Clark moved from D to forward and was the player the Oilers really need. Should the Oilers try and convert Petry into a powerforward?

Jamie Benn was a winger turned center because lack of depth. What did Dallas do? Acquire like 16 centres today because they want him back on the wing.

I just think any benefits as far as lineup balance are outweighed by all the benefits he brings to the wing position.

Doesnt matter. In the end he was not an NHL player and watched as guys like Petry moved past him. With the young dmen the Oil have coming it didnt surprise me at all to see Plante, Teubert and Peckham gone.

Gillis is pretty bad. He has a goalie that doesn't want to play there. A back up in Lack who sucks. Now he has 5 mil to sign 5 players (TSN article today too lazy to post the link). That is just to make a full roster. Not to mention their Second line is comprised of just Kesler. Maybe Booth if he comes back. It doesn't get much worse than that. Edlers contract extension this year was silly. They could have signed him for a lot less. Schneider for a first overall pick was also bad. He was offered more by several teams but wanted him in a different conference. I am sorry but when you are in that bad of shape, you take the best offer.

Smid and Shultz both make 3.5 mill. Don't see them keeping both and neither belongs on the top pair with J Schultz. I think one needs to be moved.

Edit: I could see them putting Smid with Belov. They would be able to communicate best since Belov likely isn't great at English yet.

We're not moving J.Schultz. And if we move Smid, now we have 2 rookies and 1 sophomore on the DLine. We have lots of cap room, so as I mentioned earlier if we get Ference, N.Schultz is out. IMO. Hate to see Smid go, he's just hitting stride.

I agree but he would be third line if Clarkson signs. We wouldn't need both. I do like Grabovski though. He is 29 and just under 6 ft but he could be a really good third line center.

Why do people want soft, defensive liabilities in the 3C spot. If Grabo, Meuller,etc are not in the top 6, they shouldnt be in the NHL.Unless of course, your team doesn't mind being scored on.

I like him for his ability to work with Paajarvi. 3 lines of scoring. Antropov is still my favorite for that position though.
